It's what he asked for.Saying one is "more prestigious" than the other is just flat wrong, IMO. They are totally different animals.
Bottom line is that if your team is the regular season champ you are getting in and a good seed so you are more focused on that. If your team would otherwise not be going to the Dance, then you think the tournament is the more significant accomplishment.
They just can't be compared in terms of "prestige." In fact, I'm not sure that "prestige" is even a relevant characteristic.

I'll assure that basketball fans from around the land would tell you that the regular season title is more prestigious. It takes a much better team to win the season long journey, than the 4 day end of season blitz. That's not up for debate. The honor that most often falls upon the best team would be the more prestigious, IMO.
This debate isn't about the relative viewpoints of those winning the different trophies. I would every day of the week prefer your regular season SEC crowns from the past two seasons over your tourney crowns.
