I was honestly so mad I didn't rewind to watch. After the Dobbs fumble, I quit watching the clock and we only ran 1 more play before the FG attempts. Did the clock not stop on the fumble out of bounds? If not how the hell did Butch let all that time go without realizing?

He saved the timeout in case we had a penalty on offense that results in a 10 sec run off or loss of a time out.

We had a penalty for illegal substitution, so without the TO we never would have been able to attempt the FG.

I did not get what happened either--and still don't. Dobbs got a first down on his run, yes? Did the officials stop the clock after the first down? There was confusion--and I have this niggling feeling that we were screwed. I think the officials were a bit confused, too, were they not? The clock never stopped, I don't think.

1. Dobbs fumble was returned to the spot of the fumble, since you can't fumble forward, and the play clock resumed once the ball was set for play

2. Dobbs was tackled and pushed out of bounds on his first down, but they deemed that his forward progress was stopped first, so, it was ruled in bounds and the clock only stopped to set the chains instead of stopping till the ball was snapped.

3. We sucked at clock management

They also ran off 10 seconds when we got a first down with 1:16 left. The clock kept running as they moved the chains and finally stopped it at 1:06. Then the offense drug around and didn't snap the ball until around :50. Poor clock management by Butch and also by the officials.
