Some Trending Positives

OK, the slow starts, the o-line questions, etc. are being hashed and re-hashed to death. But there are a few positive trends that are good to see.

1. Grit. We have shown the ability to turn things around after slow starts and then (dare I say it?) we have demonstrated the ability to finish.

2. D-Line. With Tuttle's return and O'Brien hitting another gear, they are and will continue to be a real force. Vickers hustling downfield and ripping the ball lose was nice to see. If Kongbo progresses and Barnett keeps doing what he does, look out. Lots of talent here.

3. Receivers. They are aggressively going up and taking the jump balls. Jennings' catch did a lot toward getting mo on our side. Malone is much improved.

4. Dobbs. He will nver live up to D4H's lofty expectations as a passer, but he got chances to do what he does best last night and that is critical to future success against tougher teams.

This team has some growing to do, but I still feel like we're saving our big weapons for UF. No way we've seen all already.

At the end of the day, we're 2-0 looking at 3-0 and have the longest winning streak since 1998. You are not going to hear me complain about winning.

Kind of thinking the same thing. You got to think if we can see it the coaches can. My guess is there will be some major changes in schema and play calling for the Gators. All Butch has heard the last 3 to 4 years is he has to beat the Gators.

Either we haven't shown everything or the players are so hungry for conference play that it's affected their play. There's no way this team has regressed with who all we've brought back from last years production.

I really liked their aggressiveness after the 1st quarter. They were at times almost unstoppable in chasing down VT's QB and disrupting the play. I assume that's the Shoop effect. If so, it bodes well.

Stoops and the defense is the most optimism I have. He clearly is able to figure out the opposing offensive game plan after a few series and make adjustments to defend. A team better have a few different plans to beat us or they aren't going to be productive for the full game.

The other optimistic thing is CBJs teams execute better and better as the season unfolds. Obviously, games 4-7 are the gauntlet, but I do think the team will get better as the season goes on.

One important thing to mention with this:
- VTech and App State came out in multiple fornations and did greart jobs mixing up the playcalling.
Very complex some of the stuff we've seen the first two weeks. Evans and Lamb are good QBS as well.

We were able to adjust to all of that each week.

One more thing, we need Byrd on defense. He looks good out there at WR, but Martin or Moseley can't be trusted.

Solid. We have to start faster though but I like that we are able to overcome the slow starts.

I was extremely happy about the way Tuttle played last night. He looked healthy and played a great game. O'Brien was impressive. The entire defensive line was last night. When you can play 13 on the DL and really not have much if any drop off that is saying something.

Dobbs made some nice throws and the WRs helped him out tremendously like you said. Those were balls they weren't going after last year. All that being said, did Preston Williams play last night? I don't recall seeing him.

One more thing, we need Byrd on defense. He looks out good there at WR, but Martin or Moseley can't be trusted.

Martin and Moseley have a novice level of ball skills.

Martin is right with his man every time because hes super fast and athletic, but he NEVER EVER turns his head and makes a play on the ball. Because that is not in his football makeup to do so.
Moseley...meh.

Byrd is good enough to start practicing this week at CB, and be the fulltime starter by Florida.
