Are completely ridiculous. UT misses on a few recruits and you all turn on a coach that's been here 2 months. Look at the staff turnover since 08. Some recruits are concerned about it and have been in wait and see mode. People say he can't recruit yet Jones had North, Dobbs, Miller sign, among a good list of other players that he managed to hang on to and added players that can add depth. If it comes 2014 and the class falls apart then bash him if you feel necessary. Be rational. The team is still solid and now has coaches that will teach the players and I believe recruits will see where the program is headed next year with a decent season

We didn't just miss on a few recruits. We got out-recruited by Vanderbilt and a Penn State program with a virtual death penalty. We got our a$$ handed to us by Ole Miss. And look at what Gus Malzahn has done.

Butch Jones got lots of top players in for official visits and couldn't close the deal.

It doesn't matter why this class is near the bottom of the SEC, what matters is that it is. You can't win big in the SEC with this level of talent.

The problem stems from most of these idiots complaining about the players using them for attention and not doing what the fans want then turning right back around and getting on their knees in front of them.

It's become a hilarious me-first attitude all over the place.

The majority have not turned on CBJ....he is why we are getting the class we are getting. Not his fault about Vonn Bell. Hard to establish a relationship in a couple of months. He is rebuilding the Chattanooga and North Ga area that Dooley dropped for us. I am proud of this class and CBJ will now have a year to build and bring in a full class. Now he needs to develop what we have and get some wins....I think he is a heck of a recruiter.

UT is 10th or 11th in the sec in recruiting and probably 11th in the sec as a team with the cats, yes the cats right on our heals. just hired a coach that doesn't seem to get it, have an AD that has no clue. this is what happens with out a great staff or a steller coaching hire. congrats to auburn for doing the job correctly. they may rise to the top, us here will be bottom feeders it is just the way it is. anything else is not facts it is hopes and dreams.

Absolutely !!!

Somehow it's seems OK for the sunshine pumpers on this board to use the excuse, that Butchy has only been here 2 months. Well that excuse didn't have to be used for Gus Malzahn at Auburn.

What's it gonna take to finally do what is necessary to go out and get the best freakin' recruiting coach we can find. Why do we keep settling for these losers !!!

UGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH !!!! :banghead2:

Tennessee showed no interest in Vonn Bell with the previous staff. Coach Jones comes in and gets UT in his top 3. He picks another school and everyone flips out in panic saying Jones can't recruit. I just don't understand this. I'm as pissed as anyone that Bell didn't sign with UT but you can't blame this coaching staff. Jones brought his entire D-staff in the kids home, what else do you want?

Yeah, this isn't like when Dooley swooped in and salvaged a class that already had a bunch of EEs. UT is currently a mess, so confidence is low. Considering that, I think Jones did a good job. We'll see how well he can coach later this year. With a solid year of recruiting and, hopefully, a good season, next year the class will be much stronger.

Malzahn started with a top-10 class to work with. CBJ started with the #47 class

One of these kids will not get the playing time they were promised and they will leave Ole Miss disgruntled. Then Ole Miss will be exposed for paying recruits to come to Ole Miss. Then you will understand why we could not hang with Ole Miss on this recruiting cycle.....

We are doing things the correct way and not cutting corners.

In fact, people dog Kiffin out for his dis honesty but he passed on Scam Newton. I would suspect that he didn't want to pay Scam Newtons dad. So, Kiffin has some morals.....

You know, I was really happy with the work Butch did on this class. Did we get all the players we wanted? No--but you can't blame Butch. I think he represented our brand well---and I think this coming season is going to be really exciting to watch. I want to see how he coaches up whom we already have on the roster. I will say that we really can't go anywhere but up at this point--I have faith that Butch and the staff can do well his first year. Go Vols!

Again, I think the anger is because a lot of posters on this board (see the Vonn Bell thread) bent over and spread their cheeks for the guy, and when he didn't deliver in the way they wanted him to, they got all pissy and are taking it out on CBJ.

He's been playing catch up with a 5 win team with 2 months to do it in. Think about that for a minute. 98 was a long time ago, these kids don't care about Tennessee tradition anymore.

We all hoped for a little better, but we have to give Butch pretty much a whole year before we start to judge. Obviously if next year's class resembles this one, then we probably botched yet another hire. I'm optimistic for now though. I really like some of the guys we brought in.

I get that we don't have the highest ranked class by any circumstance but the way some act you would think we got a bunch of 2 stars...Malzahn was at AU 1 year ago and they won a NC so that's irrelevant and ole miss is beating a lot more than just us....the players we signed are SEC caliber except for maybe like 2 players

I've been reading the threads most the week and haven't seen much staff bashing. I have, however, seen a ton of 'stop bashing the coaches' talk. Most people are simply saying this class is a disappointment, and certainly not where we need to be if we want to win more than 6 games a year. I mean, 10 -12 in the SEC is not good, and yet there are people who are extremely satisfied with it. That being said, I don't attribute that failure to Butch Jones, nor do most of the people you are referring to.

For some reason, people on this board have a difficult time understanding that you can be critical of something in the program and still be a fan. I didn't like the Jones hire. He hasn't done anything as of yet to prove he can coach in the SEC. That being said, the poor recruiting is most certainly not his fault, and while I'm skeptical he can get it done, he is the coach of Tennessee and, for now, he has my support.

I don't think people freaked out cause we didn't sign Bell. They freaked out cause everybody and their "inside source" said bell was a lock and then he signed elsewhere. If nobody would of said Bell was coming to UT, then I wouldn't of cared when he went to the buckeyes.

LOL don't waste your time around here with talk like that. You'll be lambasted.
