Watched some of their highlights against Ole Miss, Memphis, and ND.

Offense:
- Taylen Green is playing high level football. Definitely an NFL calibre QB, and the best QB we have seen all year.
- I think a lot of his success comes from time. His OL has only allowed a few sacks this year, and he clearly looks comfortable and not rushed in the backfield. Ole Miss had 0 sacks, and only one TFL on a designed run.
- Green can beat you with his legs as well. They are not afraid to run him when it counts too. Patrino ran him 3 times in a row against Ole Miss for a TD.
- Their RB is no slouch either. It makes Arkansas a two headed monster rushing.
- Overall they are a very balanced offense, and can find a lot of opportunities for pay dirt.
- Heck, vs Ole Miss, Green was a monster with over 400 yards of offense over the air and ground alone. He was close to 400 against Memphis too.
- The more I look at this game, the more I feel like we will need to score 40+ to win. Arkansas will put up points a lot of points against our bipolar defense. Very much a first to 40 wins the game type feel.
- However, critical mistakes in both Ole Miss and Memphis doomed them. Both games were effectively ended by late fumbles by the offense.

Defense:
- A tale of two teams. While I feel like the offense is the best we have seen all year, their defense is worse than bad.
- They looked decent enough at times vs Ole Miss, but critical mistakes and miscues doomed them.
- Against Ole Miss, they did get a lot of pressure on Chambliss.
- The one thing I noticed is that as their games went on, the defense got softer and softer. This is usually the mark of a team that is not conditioned or not adjusting, or both.
- They are weaker over the air vs the ground. Very similar to us.
- A bad trend for them is missed tackles as well.
- Statistically they are the worst unit in the SEC up to this point (we are 14th in the SEC for reference)

You might notice I left off ND on the trends above. Not saying that game is an anomaly, but Arkansas straight up gave up after going down early to ND. It was apparent after ND jumped all over that weak defense that all the energy and drive as sucked out of the team. This is why I think the key to beating them will be to do the same: jump on them, prevent them from getting TDs, and watch them quit. Arkansas is a team that reeks of quitting on the season, and we need to push them over the edge early on. If we don't, then I think we are in for a classic shootout. They let ND pants them at home. Think about what will happen if we go up two scores in the first quarter in front of a hungry for revenge Neyland.

But is he, Nico?

Recall Syracuse QB Steve Angeli was very good. Poised, accurate, able to read the field, and also capable of making the defense pay using his legs.

Syracuse may be imploding now without him, but while they had him they seemed very capable.

I haven't looked at Green and the Arkansas offense as you have, so it's a sincere question: you think he/they are better than Syracuse with Angeli healthy?

Go Vols!

Yes. Green is just much more athletic than Angeli, and has a better OL in front of him. Angeli was pretty good but we buried / rushed him enough times to get him spooked. Green has not been pressured a lot all year.

This game feels like it’ll either be a shootout or we completely dominate them for 4 quarters, and the closer we get, the more I lean towards the former. The Hogs have a very good offense, and I expect it to potentially be even better with Petrino now the head honcho-but as you mentioned, the defense is a total disaster. Just can’t see them stopping our offense much at all.

Meanwhile, I’m glad you’re giving Green his flowers. A lot of folks on this board are acting like he’s some pedestrian QB, when he’s far from it. He’s no Tom Brady, but he’s the best QB we’ve faced since Angeli, and I think he’ll give us fits all evening.

I feel confident in a Vol W. But I also think this board is making a huge mistake in assuming that that this’ll be some gimme game that’s over at the half. These Hogs have some juice and are better than their record indicates.

Green will be drafted next year. I think he is a 2-3 rounder skilled backup who could fight for a starting gig depending on the team. He is 6'6" and just looks like a monolith in the backfield. He has been much better at not throwing the ball to the wrong colored jersey this year.

He’s a very under the radar QB for sure. And that’s what worries me.

That’s the type of QB we usually struggle the most against.

I think our D line is gonna give him fits all night. Getting Hobbs back is massive.

On Offense with Green yes!

Arkansas obviously has some firepower and is a serious foe. But frankly, if we can't take of business against them at home, then we have no business dreaming about appearances in SEC title game or Championship series.

We are ranked 11th in ESPN's FPI; Arky is 41st. We have a 99.8% chance of getting to 6 wins; they have a 12%. Etc. All objective measures are that we are a far superior team, playing at home. Gotta take of business.

Their best bet is to run the odd front on d and hope we sleepwalk into the game and don’t get rolling. I expect them to have moderate success on offense.

They play good on d, it could be way closer than it should be. I think heupel doesn’t repeat his bye week sleepwalk he’s done before, 27-16 at the half and we put it away in the 3rd quarter, get it done 52-33.

Score prediction?

I haven’t really thought about it, but I don’t see Arkansas winning. Tennessee’s offense will probably have its way against the Hogs’ defense, despite the staff changes. I wouldn’t be surprised if Taylen Green helps keep Arkansas in the game for a bit and the defense has a few inspired possessions, but I ultimately see the Vols winning this one by at least a couple of possessions.

Tennessee 45, Arkansas 31

I have never doubted this game was going to be a lot like our last game with lots of scoring. In spite of our D's not so good play at times they are better than Arkys. Unless Vols have TO's confident our D will hold down their O enough for us to win.
Yep Turnovers would-be the outlier.
If we don't turn it over we will score 40+. If we have some weird turnover and give them 3 short fields like we did Miss State then its a close game ala Miss State.

Green was pretty good against us last year and seems improved. He has played a lot of football at this point and is a true dual threat. If we had the choice between Green and Angeli over the offseason instead of Joey and Angeli, I would have wanted Green.
