For the 11th time in 12 years, there were more first-rounders from the SEC than any other league. The SEC had 12, with the Big Ten second with seven, followed by the ACC and Pac-12 with four each, the AAC and FCS schools with two and the independent ranks with one. The Big 12 had zero first-rounders.

Nine of the first-rounders were five-star recruits (that’s 28 percent). There were 13 four-star recruits, six three-star prospects, a two-star recruit and three unranked prospects.

The first-rounders went to high school in 18 different states. The leader: California with five. Georgia and Texas had four each. Florida, Iowa, Michigan and North Carolina had two each (both Michigan players were from the Detroit area, both North Carolinians from the Charlotte area). Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Tennessee had one each.

What’s his back story of why he ended up at Chattanooga?
He was listed as a 2-star DE on rivals at 6’4” and 255 pounds out of high school. He played OL at UTC and is now 6’6” and 301 pounds. He had five offers out of high school (UTC, Army, UT Martin, Moorhead St. and Western Carolina). He is the first player from UTC to be drafted in the first round.

Be interesting as to the actual numbers over the last 10 years: First round by conference and total draft selections by conference. Haven't pulled the data in a while but I'm sure it still paints the same picture - SEC is easily the conference with the most NFL talent.

There’s only so many 5 star recruits. The percentages for being drafted in the first round are obvious for those reasons.

What caught my eye, 3 0 star and 1 2 star. All four were from a big 5 conference. It's not like they were recruited from northern, southwestern, pellissippi state!

Seen this guy's Combine and film? NE doesn't miss often. Not a NE fan and believe they didn't miss here. Moc Alumni and bleed Orange.

I'm sure he's a good player, just no need to take him in that spot. If anything trade down 10-12 picks and take him there.

Late bloomer. 5-star heart.

Actually NE has missed on every first round pick since 2012 (Right now, I'll give Mac Jones a TBD). NE did have a run before that where they nailed first round picks and combine that with pick 199....

To take a guard in the 1st round, he better be All Pro level for a decade since that's the value of that position in the draft. Kid will be a starter in the league but there's a crazy high standard to justify taking a Guard in R1.
