Give each team 3 “injury” timeouts per Qtr. After that, you have to use your game timeouts if a player is injured. If a player is removed from the game using an injury timeout, he should be ineligible to participate the rest of the possession unless the team elects to use a game timeout.

Coaches guard game timeouts like gold. That would eliminate or greatly reduce fake injuries.

I think it should be two fold. Like 4 per quarter, and the player has to stay out the remainder of the drive and the following drive.

What if a QB gets shook up? I think there has to be a way to get a good player back in the game if he’s legitimately shook up a couple plays. A coach can make the decision to burn a TO.

If teams exceed their injury & game TOs and still have injured players stopping play, it a delay of game 5 yd penalty.

2 gimme’s per quarter followed by 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty with automatic first down. And the player “injured” is ineligible for 5 minutes.

I don't like the TO, what if they don't have one?

How about they stay out for 2 minutes of gametime. That way, it hurts more against uptempo teams which is who teams do this to.

Or the injured side cannot sub anyone except the injured player and the injured team cannot meet with their coach.

Excellent ideas. It needs to be implemented before next weekend.
I am sure most of the discussion will be about people throwing things, but this is the biggest stain on the game, in my opinion (unless you count the officials making terrible calls).

I was watching the florida - lsu game yesterday. Florida was faking injuries the whole game to try and slow down lsu---it didn't work. They got steamrolled.

I like this, but maybe instead of 3 per qtr, use data for average injuries per game (it's much lower than 12), round up till you get a number divisible by 4 and use that number per qtr..

Lane absolutely made the call to use this tactic and it severely disrupted the game. He does crap like this and it's one of the reasons people tend to not like him.

That said, I hate the need to implement rules like this because a handful of assholes "stretch" the rules..

No question Lane coaches it. Know how I know? Only Ole Miss defensive players were going down every other play. We ran 75 plays on a relatively cool night. Ole Miss ran 95 plays and not a single Ole Miss offensive player went down. Not one. How is it that only defensive players get “cramps”?

On top of the in-game punishments, they could also employ a third party person at each position group during all practices/meetings for every team to ensure this isn’t being encouraged. This is 100% something that is coached. Fake injuries have been going on for years and it needs to get out of the game.

A warning to the team on the first one then miss the reminder of the half. Safety first, if a player goes down probably doesn’t need to be out there so soon. Protocol and cleared by SEC doctors same a concussion protocol.

In soccer, if a goalkeeper is injured he can be treated on the field and not be forced to leave. This is recognition of the importance of the position. A QB could be similarly dealt with.
