Analysis | Don’t bet on WSU coach Mike Leach accepting a Tennessee offer

Multiple reports surfaced Thursday night that WSU football coach Mike Leach had interviewed with Tennessee, but it's by no means a done deal, and if WSU plays its cards right, Leach could still end up in Pullman next season.

Update: As of 6:58 a.m. Friday morning, Chynna Green, a Knoxville-based TV reporter, is reporting that Tennessee AD John Currie has been fired. ESPN’s national college football reporter, Chris Low, confirmed Green’s report a few minutes later.

Just another crap media writer who is painting the "TENNESSEE IS THE WORST PLACE IN THE COUNTRY" narrative in spite of the fact that we have the most profitable program in the country. This is not a place with "inflated expectations." We absolutely have the resources to compete for national titles. We have the facilities and recruiting terrain to get top-tier talent. We squander it all, however, with a crap Athletic Department that has its strings pulled by an incompetent billionaire. Haslam is our Donald Stirling.

She is clearly a homer but I think her larger point is correct (and will be for any in our search). Its no longer just about money. Why would a "successful" coach risk coming to a program where the AD was not settled and you don't know who is actually in charge from day to day? They don't. Even though Currie was a joke, at least it seemed like there was a clear leader. Now, there isn't.

Only an up and comer coordinator or lower tier would take the risk, since it would be high reward for them to just to be in program. Tee Martin types or mayyyyybe someone like Kiffin who has massive ego and ability to control the media narrative. Honestly not sure even Kiffin would touch it now, though its not like he is going to be offered.
