I've read two accounts, which is the most reliable? (Hope this hasn't been discussed. I don't have time to go through every thread, although I haven't seen anything like it..)

Anyway, Here's the point of Basilio's post:

I've had very little faith in Dooley to be that guy because I know what goes on behind the scenes. And believe me, it's not pretty. Here's the deal with this guy. He's not a winner. And he's not a leader. His kids don't respond to him in the moment. He can't catch a break. I hate it for him because it's on our dime. But again, this isn't personal. This is fact. Dooley's just about OK for this job. But you know what, UT fans need somebody who's perfect for the job

'You say, 'where are you going to get the money to pay him off?' I know for a fact that there are at least 2 boosters (that I personally know of) who have offered to pay Dooley's buyout in full to make this error era of Tennessee football go away.

And I do think eventually (as silly as it sounds) that the first place Tennessee goes is to Jon Gruden. I believe UT is getting ready to, coaching wise, get into the big time in college football. This next guy (no offense to Dooley, but there's going to be a next guy) has to be a fan energizing hire. Tennessee can't settle going forward."'

Now, here is what Wes Rucker says according to fan who listens to the radio:

the powers that be at UT will accept 7-5 this year for Dooley because of the buyout situation, but if he loses to Vandy or UK he is done.

I also have read a while back that Rucker believes that getting Gruden is unrealistic.

So which is it? Is Basilio right about the guys not responding to him, cause I read there was a team meeting and they were upset about the possibility of losing their coach.. Is Gruden a possibility? Do we stay the course if we beat Vandy/Kentucky/Troy and Missouri?

Rucker is a retard.

Basilio is a highly functional retard.

I'm going with Basilio.

As said before, these next two games will play a large part on which direction we go in. If we see a sea of crimson in Neyland stadium and we get blown out on espn. Hart may be forced into making a decision.

I enjoy listening to TB almost everyday. Then again, I realize that he's just a fan and doesn't really know what he's talking about. "X" is first cousin to Harvey the Rabbit.
I don't follow or listen to Wes Rucker. I'd say the main reason for that is the fact that he's a no-talent ass-clown. As a former radio personality in Knoxville for quite a while, I am a tough critic on how these guys do their show. Rucker makes the show about himself, when nobody cares about his latest beard snafu. We ONLY listen to sports radio for sports insights.

The short version of my answer is that neither is reliable. At least Tony is entertaining, though.

Rucker is a mouthpiece for te university. They aren't going to tell him anything. Basilio has been wrong before, but this time he is spot on.

This isn't even close. When as Rucker ever claimed anything to the effect of Basillio re: coaches? He's the clown that claimed Lovie Smith was coming here. Also said Mushamp too.

I agree with this and I'm on the fence about things. I really like Dooley, and I think the team likes him. (So I disagree with Basilio that they aren't responding) I do think Dooley is on the right track, but not going about it as fast as we'd like. OTOH, if we do get a good proven coach, (who isn't a thug like Petrino) I'm definitely not against a change. I think it would revitalize the fan base and perhaps help get a chance at some of the best recruits. (Although, I do think Dooley has a good eye for recruits, even if they aren't always the high ranking ones) So, if Rucker is right, it doesn't break my heart, at all if we win those games and keep Dooley, but if Basilio is right, then I will be alright with that, too.

He also called the da'rick stuff months in advance and everyone on here blasted him.

Claiming UT can't make a move because of the economy is astronomically stupid. That alone discredits anything else he says.

Rucker is more reliable there's no question. Basilio is a buffoon. I don't know who's right here though. It comes down to which you want to believe IMO.

Rucker is still in love with Dooley and wants to give him more time. Tony wants change so I like Tony better.

I have read that the players had a meeting, but I haven't read how many showed up. Maybe the players are like the fans and are divided on their opinion of Dooley. Would the players who don't like him have a meeting?

The buyouts are paid in installments, so I don't think it is as big of an issue as some would like to make it. If it were lump sum, I could see the concern. Many of us could not afford a new car if we had to pay cash, most of us can handle the payments.

Basilio says that he knows that there have been two boosters, who have offered (On his site-- TonyBasilio.com) but other than that, I've not heard anything else on that.
