.... will Arizona tie us in the first half or the second half? Sorry, not being a naysayer, but if you know the Vols, we just don't seem to appreciate and respect prosperity. AZ did tie us with 5 minutes remaining and so I kind of closed one eye and was just so proud of the team for not letting the Wildcats take the lead. Strong performance and hope we can build a lead like this again against a Top 10 team and NOT allow our foes to tie us and or go ahead of us down the stretch.

Congrats Coach Barnes, Fulky and the rest of the Volunteers. Job well done!!

I think it would be impossible to maintain the pace they had for the first say 15 minutes. What it did however, was cause a better (I think) team to work extra hard and foul lots to get back in the game. I guess what I am saying is the early investment payed lots of interest as Az. burned much of it's reserve trying to recover.

Basketball is a game of runs

You have to expect the other team will have theirs, especially when playing elite teams

The most important stat is the final score at the end of the game
This. If Tennessee is capable of a 16-2 run to open the game, then Zona is capable of the same at any other point. It's why you never get comfortable with a lead and take your foot off the gas, especially early.

The line for the matchup was UT -2. Not surprised at all Zona fought back making it a close game.

If you know basketball it’s a game of runs. A team as good as Arizona is going to make a run themselves just like we made one to start the game. Kind of ridiculous to think that was something unique to Tennessee that happened.

Early double digit deficits aren’t really a big deal to good teams. It’s not a problem unique to UT for opponents to overcome them. There’s a game or two like that in the NBA almost every night. Arizona trailed Illinois by 13 on the road and came back to win.
The game right after us, Duke was down in the second half by double digits and won by double digits against VA Tech

You should text your brother and tell him that it will rain next year. Get in one more bold prediction before 22 rolls in.

You know, the Arizona players on over half their committed fouls looked and acted absolutely in shock. Not just the normal, 'who me', but rolling their eyes, throwing their arms up in the air with a shocked look on their faces. All for several seconds after the calls, especially the ones against Fulkerson. Drawing 13 fouls in one night was amazing! John really had his game in high gear last night.

Games against top teams rarely go without runs or lead changes. Sometimes big runs, actually what is rare is to see a team actually keep the lead the entire game. Your complaint really doesn’t make much sense. We jumped on them and they never got the freakin lead. Teams make runs in basketball, you act like coming back from being down in double digits has never been done. It actually highlights our ability to run the lead back out every time Arizona made a run, which was several times including the first half. That is what good teams like Arizona do, but our ability to take it right back out to double digits is the most impressive thing. We simply outplayed them and responded to every run. GBO!!!!

I learned years ago ,especially when two teams that are close in talent and team play, never to give up on a huge lead to start the game. Rarely does the team trailing give up and get blown out. They almost always make a run to close the gap oftentimes actually winning the game. Not for one skinny minute did I think we would blow Arizona out of the gym and of course we had to fight and claw to the last second. Great win Vols!!!
