By now you've had your fill concerning what will destroy us.

But what do you think is "America"? Frederick Jackson Turner thought the American frontier a sign of a unique egalitarian society. The further West, the more the "American," the more the democratic. In other words, the further American society expanded West, the more it became inclusive and violent, as odd as this may sound.

It seems to me that this entire forum takes this question as its aim, yet we still wonder what we all mean by "America."

So, here's your chance. How do you define "America"? What does this definition mean to you?

Land of the free, home of the whopper

It's a damn good burger. But I tend to like the Big Mac. Hell, quite frankly, I prefer my own grilled burgers and hotdogs. What can I say? I like an open flame.

The place where the smallest groups make the most noise and where people allow the government to break the law with little uproar.

Some of ya'll need to turn off the news and take a trip to a rural part of your area. Let me suggest Dale Hollow/ Celina/Byrdstown area. Nice place to unwind and unplug.

America is a sovereign nation situated between Canada to her north and Mexico to her south. America's national language is American, which is some strange mix of English and Mexican. The obesity rate is nearly 100%. Literacy is somewhere around 12%. America's greatest national export is Freedom and Democracy. America's per capita gun ownership is 4.3 guns per person and 0.7 per family pet. The national anthem of America is Gangnam Style.

1. A place founded on the notion of the individual and individual achievement
2. A place that recognized the dangers of centralized power
3. Agree with the egalitarian notion as well - in line with #1; people are people - some are not better than others because of birth or station
4. A place of generosity and inclination to help thy neighbor
5. A place of pioneering and risk taking with the promise of rewards if earned (see #1)

America is still the Land of the Free & Home of the Brave. It's the greatest place to live in the World besides the problems she faces on a regular day to day basis. I know I wouldn't want to live anywhere else but Tennessee with it's 3 Grand Divisions.

Does bolting from an airplane count as brave?
