I dread coaching searches, they scare the hell out of me. I don't hate them so much that I don't want us to go through one if needed, but I hope Butch gets it done so we can avoid it.
Another thought. If a coaching search is the thing that you are most excited about, can I assume you hope Butch fails, and by "fails", wouldn't that mean the Vols losing games they shouldn't and/or losing several/many?

And, I'm most excited about it just being football season again. Everyone will start the season 0-0, obviously and I know Butch has a losing record against Muschamp, he's even with Vandy, he sucks, we lost several key players etc. But, some coaching changes, possible best QB in SEC (I know, it sounds like sunshine pumping, but it is possible), a decent recruiting class and some really good returners, we have as good a chance as any to win the east. I'm excited to see what happens!

I watched the two playoffs so far, and our bowl, and I couldn't help but thinking about what we could've been like without losing so many folks to injury.
If anyone has ever played fantasy football and had 3-4 of your top players go down with injury, you are pretty much toast for the season.
We were one college project from being in the Sugar Bowl. I'm excited about what Butch can do with a full roster of good players. I think we've got the right coaches. A coaching search means we're ANOTHER 3 years away... at least. We're about to have a mass exodus of NFL talent, and that actually feels good to me. It means when those players are on Monday night football they'll say Derek Barnett, Rocky Top University which only helps us get stronger. And it means we're relevant again. Butch made us relevant again. Butch had analysts talking about the Vols again, good or bad, they're taking about us. They've not cared about the Vols for a decade since our finicky fans caused enough idiocracy to ditch Phil. Phil always had us in those conversations nationally, again, good or bad. I'm excited about the Vols again. Others outside the program are interested in what we're doing again. I think we've got a shot to win every game, and we're not stopping anytime soon, unless the idiots prevail and try to get a new coach. Nobody thought Phil was a sexy hire either.

Just speculating, but, I look forward to seeing who emerges as the leaders of this new team. I believe that having a featured player in a leadership role that turns sour can really hurt the team. Also, I think that having super-star players whose position is unquestionable squelches the rise of younger players who just might be better role models. Nothing like a new season to shake up the pecking order. I look forward to fewer and less severe injuries, and no drama. And a well-respected new AD that wants Team 121 to WIN. Other than that, the usual stuff.
