So targeting is....

The QB ducks and lowers his head into a guy who jumped to try and block his pass. But they will always call targeting on us. Their defender shoved our QB to the ground 4 seconds after his pass - no call. Tackle our receivers before ball is thrown or get there - no call. Basic incompetence (if not WWE style sports entertainment)

Lowering your head to tackle the ball carrier OR hitting the ball carrier in the helmet, regardless of whether you drop your head.

The “rules analysts” are worthless. Middleton did not drop his head, but he did hit the QB in the helmet. Clearly, folks are confused.

I said before Middleton is 6'7" tall. All players have to bend their knees to make a tackle. If Middleton doesn't bend his knees then he is coming in high. Then they get him for hands to the face. It was a no win situation for the player. If you are Middleton to make that tackle 10 times out of 10 because the goal is to disrupt the pass. Football rules are hurting the true competitiveness of the game.

He is a foot taller than the man he is tackling. Basically he can't play defense, he is too big if that is how they are going to call it.

Very hard to tackle these days you have to make sure your head is out of the way when you grab them very hard to do.

No penalty if he plays for Bama.

The “rules analysts” are basically a mouthpiece for the SEC refs/offices in an attempt to make this BS legit.

Thats a terrible rule. Helmets are going to make contact from time to time. That should not be targeting

I hate the rule as it stands (if the QB lowers his head and the defender then hits the QBs helmet with his helmet......it can be targeting)

A defender cannot hit the QB below the knee......or even close. A defender cannot hit the QB above the shoulders, a defender cannot let his helmet hit a QBs helmet......even by accident.....not everything is targeting but all of those things are a penalty.

It’s getting crazy.
