I don’t think Hoke will take away Scott’s OC title. But I wonder if he will have more authority now to open up the offense? This defense is good enough keep us in games. It just needs SOME help from the offense.

So what do you guys think? You think Scott adds say 6 or 7 more plays to our pat 3 we’ve been running?

Edit: so reading the replies I was wondering where I said “open up the offense”. Lol it’s right there. Ok how about “have SOME offense”? Agree, that was a somewhat optimistic statement.

May actually see some personnel packages that have extra protection to keep the QB from getting blasted
almost every play.

Gotta think the 2 TE sets were Scott's idea.

Don't know how McBride didn't end up with a concussion on a helmet to helmet hit in the 4th quarter last night.

Honestly thought about it. But why at this point? I figured instead that at most he would get lots and lots of “help”.

Regardless with just a spark of offense we take Vandy. Still don’t see a path to beating LSU though. If they are smart they will duct tape Ogre to the massage table in the locker room prior to kickoff, should give them a 10 point advantage.

That kid is tough. I cringed on the hits he was taking. No idea on his talent right now frankly he was just running for his life. But he has guts and composure that’s for sure.

Yep. Sure did. And still leave my statement out there. This defense has been hamstrung by the offense all season. The short field they’ve been given to work with is ridiculous.

Edit: to clarify, no this defense is not World beater class. But it isn’t as bad as the offense has made them look. Hell they’ve out scored the offense lately!!

Around 6 min to go in the game everyone flat out missed a targeting and helmet to helmet shot he took.

Think all these QBs displayed guts this year playing in this putrid scheme behind a shaky at best o line.

Think any of them could succeed in a better offense but you're right....hard to really judge any of them based on this season .

Scott is the worst - how can you run our offense and never have a jet sweep option? The whole offense is predicated on stretching the defense and forcing them to defend 3 potential ball carriers every play. Scott is part of the problem, not part of the solution imho.

The Vandy game is our one chance to win this season. LSU game we need to use to prepare for Vandy and try not to get anyone hurt.

Not so sure. I’ve always felt this was Jones offense. We will see over the next couple of weeks I guess one way or another.

Edit: lol I didn’t remember typing that but went back and read it and there it was I edited on a comment. Yeah, “open up” is rose colored glasses admittedly but giving the D longer than a 40 second rest could go a long way I think.

Butch may not be a winning coach at this point of the season,mbut many on here have no clue what his management style or leadership M.O. Is or ever was.

His record this year speaks volumes, no need to accuse him of being a "control freak". He fielded one of the worst teams in UT history, doesn't matter if he micromanaged or let assistant coaches have free reign.

And if you insist, then I would argue that's a head coaches job to have a vision. After all, he gets all the blame if it doesn't work, so it might as well be his way.

Our LB and DE play was horrific last night. One of the worst performances in Vol history.

Actually won’t disagree on those two position groups last night. “Exposed” is about the nicest thing to say for those two groups.

But still say over the season the D has been good enough to keep us in games. Just got no O help is all.
