Was wondering about what you all think about the fact that if CSS changes our base to a 3-4 does it give CDD a pass for next year. Everyone understands that there will definitely be a learning curve with a new scheme, and it will take a class or two to get the right personnel. But just how much of a pass will Hart allow CDD? CDD needs W's now in the worst way.

Base won't be a 3-4, according to him. But I think we have the bodies on campus now and coming in the fall that would be able to run it now.

To answer your question, no he doesn't get a pass. Win or go home starting in the fall of '12.

He didn't say they were going to a 3-4 this year as their base D. He said once they get a chance to evaluate players and skills during Spring and Fall camps they would decide what they are running as their base. But he also said they would be multiple.

Either way, I don't think he gets any passes this year and I'm pretty sure he knows that as much as anyone.

4-3 to 3-4 is one of the toughest defensive transitions. I doubt it happens over night with Dooley DESPERATELY needing to win. We don't have big enough horses either. Mccullers, just like every other JC player on this board that gets his knob polished the entire off season by the recruiting forum, will need at least half a season before he can feasibly contribute.

Well that sucks, half of our tough games are towards the front.

'06 was our first year going 3-4 full time. Like I said in an earlier thread, Saban had the benefit of 2 years worth of Shula recruiting for the 3-4.

I didn't know Shula/Kines ran a 3-4...have always heard Saban getting all the praises for instituting it there...

Saban is, clearly, and awesome defensive coach. His last few defense have been phenomenal.

But anyone who tells you that Bama switched to a 3-4 upon Saban's arrival doesn't know what they're talking about.
