I hate they dropped it down to maybe ā€œ100kā€ but unless we rebuild the entire thing I doubt we’ll ever actually go up in seats.

Should be fun this season. Hopefully we get a lot of night games early in the season.

Before the latest renovations, Neyland had a little over 96,000 seats in the 2 bowls. For Neyland to seat over 100K with chairbacks (as you would have to build in today's world) Neyland would need 3 levels, at least.

Oooo now that would be a sight the behold. I wonder if we got back to our winning ways if we could fill a beast like that.

I’ve always loved the capacity of our stadium, but now with TVs as good as they are and every game being televised, I think we’d be ok with decreasing capacity for a better fan experience. Heck, maybe the north end zone covers over the south could improve acoustics to pushing sound down to the field. šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

Lower level south end zone seating area is very tight and small. I sat next to a Kentucky fan couple there recently and he said to her, ā€œthis place is tinyā€. I knew what he meant because he was about 350 pounds, but he was right for that section. People are bigger now. This is an historic part of the stadium, but they could lighten it up a bit and give it an airy and modern feel without destroying the history. I love the outside part of that end zone.

What’s our official capacity now? I’ll write an angry letter if we went below 100k just so the students and elderly could easily see a jumbo tron.
