Slow hire risks losing Gillespie

Yes, there are other running back coaches. But of all the coaches on staff, the one I most want to retain is Gillespie (with respect to secondary coach Warren, who I also might retain).

I hope this doesn't take too much longer so we can keep him around to keep developing the stable of young backs we have.

He'a the best coach on an otherwise horrible staff. How many teams have come calling for him? Until Dooley we've always been productive at RB and had talent.

I like the guy but I don't really want any of Butch's staff to remain in Knoxville.

Gillespie good for sure but forgot about FSU graham situation...along with steel if Gus goes to ark.

thats why I think Fulmer will have someone by Monday if he gets the right fit of coach and assistants

Gus got $49 million to stay at Auburn, and he took the deal.

We don’t even know if the new coach will want to retain him. He will get to choose his own staff. There’s a good chance the new coach will come in and completely replace everyone on staff with his guys.

Coach G is ok and a good coach. However, we always seemed to settle for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th choices in running back recruiting. May not be his responsibility, idk.

With the production he has consistently gotten out of our running backs without an OL, any person, coach or fan, would be insane to consider replacing him.....just imagine how good the running backs would be if we had an OL. Not to mention, he coached who will probably be Rookie of the Year in the NFL.

Clear house but pay him whatever it takes to keep him.

People keep saying they want to retain Warren. We had the worst rush D in the SEC, quite possibly top 10 worst in the nation and some of yall see our passing defense ranking and think that's Warren's work? Nah that's the work of UT's worst rushing defense of the modern era. Opposing offensive coordinators knew there was no reason to be pass happy versus us - heck even Mizzou and UMass, both pass-heavy teams, ran it right down our throats with relative ease. That's not a testament to a strong pass D, it's a testament to our historically weak rushing D.

The only guys who should be retained, IMO, are Gillespie and Rock (we need STABILITY in our S&C program, we've had way too many S&C coaches over the last 10 years). Hoke has to go, Shoop has to go, Thig, etc and the rest of the guys are probably underqualified if we are being realistic and want to improve on the fundamentals like discipline, tackling, communication and missed assignments.

I don't disagree with that, but we finally got to see our DBs turn around to find the ball most of the time when opponents went deep. That was nice to see.

While taking the proper time to select the best coach, the current recruiting class and coaching staff must unfortunately wait to see how it all plays out.

If you don't take time to do it right, you end up making time to do it over.
