Xbox 360 Slim and Project Natal: Price and Release Predictions : Product Reviews Net

Some interesting news for Xbox 360 owners now, as industry analyst Michael Pachter has predicted that Microsoft will release an Xbox 360 Slim and Project Natal bundle before the end of the year.
As reported from Eurogamer, Pachter thinks the bundle will come in at around $299 and will also include a 250GB Hard Drive along with the Project Natal motion tech.

He also predicts that Microsoft may choose to cut the price of the current Xbox 360, by the time Summer ends

Sounds like an E3 announcement is imminent. Hopefully my crappy refurb will be dead by then.

I just don't see Natal ever making it into my house. I hope I'm wrong and there's a good reason to get it.

I feel the same way about Natal, just dont see me using it that much. However, the slim version of the 360 has my attention.

I guess I'm out of the loop - first time I've heard of Project Natal....

But after watching a video of it - I can see it being the most buggy/clunky/unresponsive thing of all time unless I'm just underestimating today's technology.

Natal is a gimmick. In theory there could be some interesting applications, but it would take alot of shovelware to get to any of that. It's all Nintendo's fault.

Very interested in the slim 360 though, the 250 GB HD would nice as well.

I have a Wii, and if I want to move while playing a game, I'll play the Wii.

However, I do agree with people on here about the slim 360, and the 250 gig HD.

I think Natal could be on to something. But, as mentioned, it's going to be tons of terrible software to find a good one.

Powerglove and stuff like that was for kids. We are finally at a time where more mature games are coming out and some developers will find cool stuff for it.

I'm ready for some cool tv goggles with accurate head movements while you aim in real life. Natal could pull that off with the right technology alongside it. I think that's still a ways off.

If they come up with some good games with Natal and also develop it to work with these new 3d tv's then they may have something.

Wait why is that Nintendo's fault? Microsoft's the one making the thing...and rushing to release it early now which unfortunately probably won't end as well

Nintendo has forced everyone into these motion controls due to their ridiculous success. I'll go ahead and lump avatars in there as well. The Wii is just straight-up awful.

It's terribly gimmicky when done poorly (which most movies still dont quite know how to use it well), but unfortunately it's here to stay...especially after how well avatar did
It would appear so with movies, games, and television on board. Just another gimmick. I'll be passing on it. Saw Avatar in IMAX 3D. It was cool but overall didn't do that much for me. Why? Why with these gimmicks?

I think Natal might surprise some of you...

I think Natal would be cool - but I just don't see how they can do all that without causing people some major headaches. I remember being pissed at the Wii at times when it first came out if it didn't respond well and what not... and from that video - it was like the Wii x1000 with some of the things it did. Just don't see it going over to well and being extremely clunky and buggy.

Actually it's not Nintendo's fault, it's everyone that bought a Wii and made it the #1 sold console this generation (I'm one of them).

It's not Nintendo's fault the consumer agreed to plunk down $250+ for a GameCube with a new controller. I'd actually say they're geniuses.

Ok wow; so what you just said is like fussing about somewhere having to serve breakfast b/c McDonald's does it and makes a third times more money....

Nintendo didn't force anyone to do anything. They did something that was a creative risk and actually turned out really well. Microsoft could either improve their things and system in a new and creative way, or just copy whatever everyone else is doing.

They did the latter, that's their own decision or fault as you worded it

Just like when the N64 lost 3rd party games b/c it wanted to stay with cartridges while PS1 was using CDs; that's not Sony's fault, that's Nintendo's for their decision

Microsoft really doesnt have to do anything

one of their big problems with though is that the only ways they know how to make money are 1)charge money for things that dont change much or everyone else gets for much less; 2)make everyone get the "new" version that's slightly improved, required but really not put in full effort of improvements, cause we're microsoft who's going to not buy our stuff (looking at you past windows) or 3) copy everyone else's ideas and claim that they're being creative

Microsoft's really good at 1&2; but they really like to do 3 a whole bunch

because people are an easily amused lot who you often times just have to jingle some shiny keys in front of and they'll be amused

look how many games still get hyped or sell well simply b/c the thing is "the graphics look good" or how well something can sell because the words "Mario," "Halo," or Madden are in the title

visuals sell with the public; it's not right but it's the way it works

I'm not a fan of the Wii in the slightest. Outside of a majority of their first party titles and maybe a few others the game library is nothing but shovelware. The hardware itself is outdated. The motion controls are fairly gimmicky, although it can be fun if done well, which is pretty rare.

Nintendo was smart though, can't deny that. They own the casual gaming market. Everyone ate it up, went out and bought all hundred peripherals Nintendo put out, and went out in flocks to pick up Wii Carnival games(a cheaply developed game that could probably be made in Flash).

I know, Microsoft and Sony didn't have to put out some kind of motion controller. But they pretty much did. Nintendo is dominating console gaming sadly with their cheap, gimmicky console and it's weak library of games. The Wii is slowing everyone down in my opinion. Essentially forcing Sony and Microsoft to waste time that could be better spent elsewhere working on their rushed responses to a gimmick.

Microsoft's Natal might have a shot as it will be unique. If the time and money is actually spent on it we might see some cool stuff. Regardless it wouldn't be for a year or two. Sony will forget about the Move quickly in my opinion.

There you go, there's my big rant. Probably douchey, if so, a thousand pardons.
