Someone just mentioned him to me and I hadn't even thought about him in some time.
He redshirted right?
As I recall he has size comparable to that of Meach. Anyone know how he progressed this year? Is he ready to step up next year?
I really don't know much about the young man...

yea Meach is 6'3" 210, and slick is 6'4" 185. not bad at all though. i hope he and hancock can step up. those two (playing well of course) with briscoe and/or taylor would be tough to defend IMO. here's to optimism. lol

It's been said before, but I wish he'd be successful just so we could hear that name more often. Slick Shelley. It just sounds cool.

Shelley doesn't have the body to add more weight (unless he were to meet with David Boston's pharmacist).

Even at 6'4", the most he could carry without losing effectiveness would probably only be 195 (205 as the absolute max).

Why do you say that? He's 6'4 and is not frail looking at all.

As I recall, there was a practice article saying he was stepping it up.. he's just getting over injuries.

I'm ready to see O'Neal and Vinson in action next year. Those two could very well be our starters.

I saw him in Tampa at the Vol’s hotel. I believe he is above the 185 now. He was standing next to Meach and even looks bigger. I hope he can be in the mix next year. He is a red shirt freshman this year but almost 21 so maybe the age can help also. He was a rivals 4 star out of HS and ranked as the #14 overall WR and #3 in Arkansas. Speed is not a big problem with a 4.65 40. You can compare that with Coker who is 4.50 so it's not like "Slick" is slow.

What ever it takes I just want a tall WR out there that has the strength to break some tackles but with the speed to leave the DB's behind. I can hear it now "Ainge's pass complete to Slick Shelly covering 72 yards, touchdown big orange." Now you got to say that would be "Slick"

Coker does not run a 4.5...coming he ran a 4.4 and he's at a 4.3 right now. Vinson and O'Neal both run a 4.4

Not huge at all.. Take a look at a photo finish of a race that is .2 seconds different and see what the difference is. It's a lean that's it.

This is football, not a race. 4.3 to 4.5 can be the difference between taking a slant to the house or getting caught from behind. .2 seconds is a bigger difference than you realize.

:banghead2: If you say so. I on the other hand would know nothing about 2/10 of a second. It was an example to try and show how much distance is between 2/10 of a second and the fact it is not huge.

4.3-4.5 is the difference between a first round pick and a guy drafted on the second day.

If you think it about it, the difference between 4.7 and 4.3 isn't all that different. But we are talking a about football here.... a .2 difference is huge
