Okpara/Milicic/Phillips posted a combined 7 rebounds and 13 points. Floridas 3 bigs had 19 rebounds and 28 points. There’s your game. The gators had 10 more OFFENSIVE rebounds than the Vols had. Can’t let that happen at the big dance. Let’s move on! GBO
P. S. We could’ve used Estrella today. If for No other reason but to get in somebody’s way.

And people are somehow confused enough to think that having Awaka on this roster does anything to shrink that gap apparently.

I feel like we have spent the last decade saying "if only we had another big man."
Maybe, but we would have been solid there this year if not for JP's injury. When Carr left I was praying we somehow found a big man from overseas to add to our roster. Not to be, tho.
Even tho Carr was a guard, I felt we needed thr extra big more. Carr would have probably helped us on the boards, IMO. Some scoring moat likely, too.

We should ne solid in the front court next year if all the Cade, Felix, and JP all return.

Not confused, Awaka would have definitely been an asset. There’s a reason Barnes wanted Tobe back and that Arizona decided to pay him a large NIL to play for them. But hey - I’m sure your more knowledgeable about it than those 2 guys.

Our front court provided minimal scoring today. Thinking an undersized career 5-6 point scorer would be a difference maker is pure lunacy. But sure, let’s pretend.

Then Barnes and Lloyd are pure lunatics. BTW, he was Arizona’s top rebounder with 9 and 6 points in 23 minutes against Houston. Those 9 boards would have been very helpful today.

Yes, he would have helped some but let’s not get carried away. Houston’s biggest guy is
6-9. Florida goes 6-10, 6-11 and 7-0. And the two biggest guys are both around 270. Big difference.

Would have loved to have watched Awaka battle it out with Florida’s big Nigerian

He wasn’t necessarily talking about scoring, it was the rebounding discrepancy and awaka would have definitely made a difference

I still believe in my heart that had we gotten Uros to stay one more year knowing Purdue was on the schedule for early season tourney last year, we would have gone to the Final Four.

Going against Purdue and Edey with Uros would have been a battle

The way they protected Edey, Uros would have fouled out in the first half. More likely that he irritated Edey enough to get in a fight and they both got ejected. That would have worked out well.

We well could have beaten Purdue twice with Uros. But which of last year's newcomers would have been bumped to keep him and how would that have affected the team this season and last?

I mean a conversation shoulda been had with Aidoo or Awaka to hit the road.

Like we knew for a fact before the 2023 tourney was over Purdue was on the schedule atleast once because of the early season tourney teams.

Agreed. And if we had both Carr and Estrella, we'd probably have our first 1 seed in program history. When are we going to get a break in hoops?

With Estrella yes. His presence is sorely missed. Carr contributed very little and didn't show much promise for significant improvement.

Lol Awaka would have been fouled out in less than 5 minutes in yesterdays game... but would had still lead the team in rebounds I bet lol.

It was embarrassing that our guards had 14 out of the 25 total rebounds. They just completely ate our lunch on the boards.

He’s a good rebounder. He’s 12th all time in Offensive Rebound percentage since the NCAA started tracking offensive rebounds in 2010. That could have made a difference.

I just hope Estrella stays. I don't think he has any reason to leave, but I would hope he stays and rehabs/recovers and then develops in the big man room with Okpara and Cade
