At one point there was a rumor going around that Slade was going to retire due to health reasons... well PW and JRS have both been fired, and there has been no mention of Slade retiring. Does anyone know if this is still true or will he still be DB coach next year? I think that our secondary has consistently been the weakest part of our defense, and am I correct in thinking that Slade is one of our weakest recruiters and has a laid back approach to coaching? Our secondary this year was not very good especially on third down, but a lot of that had to do with losing our best player Jason Allen. Hefney and Wade showed improvement, but Roshaun Fellows (wasn't he a freshman all-american?) regressed into one of the worst players on that unit. I personally think our team would be better off if Slade did retire what does everyone else think?

I echo your comments.

it seems every year the weak part of our defense seems to be the secondary..

Slade needs to go..

I agree that its Slade's time to go. Our secondary has been the weak link of the D for a few years now. They always seem to give up big plays on 3rd and long.

Yeah, coach Fulmer needs to fire him so people can get mad at him for getting rid of Slade. (none of you in particular)

I gotta agree here. Our secondary has been weak for a long, long time.

Anybody have Prime Time's telephone number handy? He wanted to coach a few years ago before he made his comeback with the Ravens . . .

I simply do not understand why Fulmer is not man enough to fire (or re-assign) coaches that need to be...that is until there's an all out meltdown like offense this season. A strong case & point has been JRS since his arrival.

The signs have been there for years Slade "underperforms" in his responsibility. I don't understand. The University of Tennessee deserve the best, the Volunteers Fans deserve the best and our excellent talent deserve the best.

It will be interesting to see how our secondary performs next season. They should be pretty good. I think that we do need some taller guys back there though.
