Six Wins Required to get to a Bowl?

Heh, not me. I'm still in "come on, what you got now?" mode.

I don't get belligerent often (these days), but this thread has pushed ALL the right buttons. :)

First of all, I meant this IS fun.

Next, I agree and disagree with you in this thread.

Last, but not least...are you quoting that way on purpose? If so, STOP. :)

I'm old school. I can remember when bowl games actually meant something. There were very few bowls, and the teams invited to them were the top teams in the nation. Of course this was before the days of handing out participation tophies for mediocrity. Oh, how times have changed...for the worse.

It's not even about participation trophies with the #of bowls. It's about money and advertising. I see zero downside to this many bowl games. It's a win win for everyone. I enjoy bowl games because you see teams you usually don't see often and matchups you normally don't see. I do disagree with 5-7 teams getting in but sometimes that's the only option to fill bowl slots. But it's the exception and not the standard.

lol.

so i'll just say this and be on my way....

1. i find that bowl games, all bowl games, get much more interesting if you gamble on them. i'm not advocating you go dump your life savings, but a fun bowl pool with family or friends, just to keep things interesting, and interested in the motor oil bowl of your choice (i won my family pool last year :)):eek:lol:
2. i have a book case up stairs in the back of our bonus room full of medals and trophies that are all, but a few, participation trophies, and my kids couldn't care less. you know which ones they do remember? the time they took 6th in the overall at their annual competition. a stupid pink ribbon. or the time she won her age group's heat at the swim meet. a yellow ribbon.

i share that only because no matter the accomplishment (neither of my kids 'won', but both 'accomplished' something) you can find value in it, even if it's the motor oil bowl between 2 teams you've never heard of.

and if you don't wanna watch it...you don't have to.

The funny part about all this "participation trophy" stuff is it's appearing that people are just throwing this line of thinking about without really even knowing what it means or if it even applies to the situation.

There still is a winner and loser in the bowl game, and after the game they don't have 2 ceremonies for each team and they get the same trophy. All the bowls don't pay out the same amount, and I've yet to meet anyone who says winning the Idaho Bowl is the same as winning the Sugar Bowl or the National Title game.

I can imagine both.

Girl so pretty the demands on her attention and time are endless, leaving even her true beau scrambling for a modicum of a normal relationship. Under those conditions, might be preferable to dial the beauty down just one notch to find sanity. Maybe Marilyn Monroe was "girl too pretty."

As for car too fast, you see wrecked Lamborghinis and Maseratis all over Youtube. They were clearly too fast for someone. :)
