SI's "Road Trip to Tennessee"

I'm embarassed that guy is the sports editor of the Beacon. Williamson and Shelby Counties? The article is riddled with inaccuracies and written on a third grade level. The journalism department must be so proud.

The sports writing in the Beacon has been slowly falling off, and took a huge hit this year. I think that kid writes like a sophomore.

No offense hat, but besides the Williamson and Shelby Counties comment and the guy's obvious lack of writing ability, his points are pretty much dead on.

As a guy who did undergrad here in 3 1/2 years, went to Atlanta for a while, and is now back for law school, I think his characterizations of what to do and where to go (for most of the students, at least) is very accurate.

All that being said, The Daily Beacon is at its lowest point in the 7+ years that I've been reading. They have, to put it mildly, a severe shortage of talent on staff.

And hat, just out of morbid curiosity, what is it, exactly, that you do?

Tennessee is the only school comprised of people entirely from Shelby and Williamson counties

What the crap is he talking about???
This kid must have had a blast at UT (says he is a senior), cause he certainly has been in too much of a fog to learn anything about the campus around him.:ermm:

"very accurate"???....um....
1. 26,000 students, not 18,000
2. The Strip...not just three-blocks
3. A serious article that actually refers to "cleat chasers"?!
4. Athletic dorms are banned by the NCAA, Gibbs Hall houses regular students and athletes, as does Andy Holt, Morrill, etc.
5. The Circle Drill has nothing to do with a "late season game"
6. what the crap is an "Uncle Rico"?
7. Fort Sanders...named for the FORT...not a battle

Of course UT is comprised of students only from Shelby and Williamson counties. Tennessee has a great 'student exchange program' in which all the kids from Knox county go to UTC, the kids from Hamilton go to Murfreesboro, and the kids from every other county in TN end up at MTSU...

This writer is a joke...

Thoughts on your game?

Fuhgedaboutit. Florida crushes UGA Saturday. Not even close.

... but LawVol has such a nice ring to it (as opposed to "lawgator"). I wonder if that license plate is already taken.

The only reason I don't shoot for something like it down here is that lawyers in Florida are about as respected and popular as, well, lawyers in Tennessee.

Gators are way way better but the dogs have nothing to lose and that would worry me a bit.

This is why I'm glad I'm not you. Not the least bit worried. Already chalking up the W and thinking about South Carolina and FSU as last roadblocks to 11-1.

Well, LG, I will certainly be cheering the Gators on from now until the SECCG. I will also be cheering for LSU to beat Arkansas and for Auburn to lose every last game, unless they make it to the SECCG. At that point, I will be pulling for Auburn. Basically, UF can have the SECE, and I'll take a BCS bowl game.

That is a plausible scenario. Florida wins out, including SECCG and the SECW teams each lose at least one more. UT wins out. This means that SECW loser of title game has 3 losses and at that point UT gets the second at-large BCS bid at 11-1.

I like it.

I like it a lot.

This looks like someone vomited, and then the vomit wrote this article.

It makes me want to start marking my monitor with red ink.

He makes a couple good points, but it is just awful as a whole.

Florida State this year, rival or not, will get crushed, it will be worse than the Georgia game.

Currently, I'm putting my UT JD(Class of '96) to work as in house cousel for a company here in South Florida.

Actually, of all our remaining games, the FSU game looms as the real trap game to me. It is entirely possible that with all the controversy right now Bowden's job will depend on them beating us and ruining what might be at that point a realistic shot at playing for the national championship.

The drumbeat to force Bowden out is growing louder with each loss. The perception down here is that Bowden is too old to do this anymore and that the game has passed him by. Furthermore, he simply refuses to replace his son, Jeff, at offesnive coordinator, even though the offensive production for that team is way, way off since he took that job.

I know former players for FSU that are just beside themselves with the way the program is deteriorating so quickly and, to a man, they blame it on Jeff and, by proxy, Bobby.

This week, for the first time, a couple of prominent boosters admitted publicly that they have been asking the FSU president to do something about the situation. If FSU loses again, I expect you will hear more of them step forward and call for a change.

At the end of November, it may be that the only way to salvage another season for Bowden so he can try to go out a winner is for them to beat the Gators. The Bowden faithful will be out in force for that.

And I hate to say it but over the years Bowden-coached teams have been willing to play dirty to win, i.e. take cheap shots at players and to intentionally injure them. Some Bowden loyalist on that team might go after Leak, or Tebow, or Wynn, in an effort to hurt them to affect the outcome of the game.

Its that bad right now at FSU. It could happen.

RE: LG's post above. I'm trying to imagine the booster who has done enough for FSU to even think of saying what Bowden should or should not do...

The Alligators will throw right over the top of the "Noles though...

RE: The article attached at the front.... The words mish mosh come to mind.

How does SI allow that to be placed beneath their banner...
