Sirius NFL Radio Moving the Chains

Was listening to Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan on Sirius on the way home and they were discussing Monte making the move to Tennessee to help Lane. Which they were all for btw. They were talking about getting a lot of emails and calls from people about how Monte wouldn't last 2 years before he called it quits and how his defense wouldn't be as effective in the SEC.

They're response to this was that a kid would be crazy if they didn't want to attend UT and learn from Monte. Pat Kirwan (who coached with Monte) said that Monte wouldn't have to recruit, he just needed to get them on campus and he would have them sold without having to recruit them. They also basically said that Monte would school the coaches in the SEC with his defense. Just thought it was cool that they were selling this move on an NFL radio program that I'm sure a lot of parents and kids listen too.

Also, do you remember when Pat was telling anyone who would listen how great of a hire CLK would be?

I remember him saying this and thinking that it would be awesome if we would fire Fulmer and hire this young energetic coach!

Good to hear. I believe that Monte will be used in recruiting to seal the deal on some that are riding the fence. From what I have heard, Monte was a tireless recruiter back in his college coaching days. I would believe it because the man is a worker. I've read stories where he sleeps at the office often times to keep from wasting time on the drive to the office from home. It actually got so bad at one point the Tampa players and coaches hid his pillow and blanket so he would have to go home.

Yes he was pro CLK hire from day 1.

Tampa had a good D. It will take some time to get everything installed at UT. In a couple of years though our D could actually be feared once again. It would be great for teams to actually be worried about playing in Knoxville again.

It would be hard to imagine, and a little funny to think about, him walking in and out of 17 - 18 year olds houses to recruit.

Did you hear the part where PK was talking Ed O coming here as well? He said he knew of a lot of other names that would joining them in Knoxville, and that Vol fans would be VERY happy.....he wouldnt give any hints to who it was, though.

I've always loved that show. The problem is that I only have Sirius in the car and don't get to hear the whole show that often.
