I've seen many speculate that the 2001 Miami Hurricanes may be the best team ever. So, I created a Tennessee Dream Team :)rock:) and put them up against the mighty Hurricanes in a simulator. Here are the results of a best of 7 series.

Game 1: Miami takes a close one in overtime 30-23. Leads series 1-0.

Box Score Here

Game 2: For the second straight game, Canes pull it out in extra time, and take 2-0 series lead.

Box Score Here

Game 3: Vols roar back, outscoring the U 27 to 3 in the second half, to make the series 2-1.

Box Score Here

Game 4: Vols put the Canes away in the 4th to tie Series at 2 apiece.

Box Score Here

Game 5: Touchdown in the 4th gives Miami the series lead, 3-2.

Box Score Here

Game 6: First half is the difference, as Miami wins the series 4-2.

Box Score Here

Miami wins series 4-2. S***.

I don't mean this to be mean, I'm just curious, how old are you Dooley2? I just question because if you were going for an all time dream team you missed pretty bad with the backs and receivers. Any Dream Team that doesn't have James Stewart, Charlie Gardner, Reggie Cobb, Chuck Webb is not a dream team. Same can be said for not having Carl Pickens, Willie Gault, Joey Kent at WR. JMO...

I was just fixing to ask where was Kent? And why is Henry 4th string?!!!! I would put him at LEAST second.

WhatIfSports database only goes back to '96.

Leaving Webb off is inexcusable. Same can be said for having Bray on the squad while Shuler and Tee Martin were left off. Bray may turn out to be a fine QB, but as of today, he's never even beaten so much as an average team.

First, everyone will have an opinion.

Secondly, the database only goes back to 1996.

Thirdly, the database ranks each player at each position. I chose the highest rated players to give UT the best chance of winning.

Fourthly, as far as depth chart goes, the database arranges who starts, not me.

Lastly, it's just a fun little thing. If you would like to put different players up and try yourself, go to whatifsports.com.

Now, party hard. :loco:

I'd also like to add:

Seeing Peyton throwing TD passes to the likes of Justin Hunter, Kelly Washington and Jason Witten pretty much makes my day.

Shouldn't Feathers be on the list. Fuad Reveiz as kicker and Jimmy Colquit as punter?

QB:

1997 Manning
2007 Ainge
2001 Clausen
2010 Bray

say what!!!!!! I conclude the 5th QB would have been Brent Schaffer

The database only goes back to 1996. Therefore, you would have been looking at Rick Clausen, Jon Crompton, Joey Matthews, AJ Suggs, Tee Martin, and Matt Simms I guess. I picked the 4 highest rated. Your beef is with the database, not with me.:eek:k:

If they don't have the 39 defense on there then I quit

The second flaw in Dooley2's argument is that the 2001 Miami squad isn't even the best sqaud according to that simulator. By my test so far, the 2005 Texas squad has beat them 10 straight times by double digits.

edit....Apparently home field matters immensely to this thing too, since i just flipped them and now Miami is blowing out Texas

Even so, Texas takes 4 out of 5 on neutral field.

While the what if game is fun, there is no way that a team consisting of the best players EVER to attend UT at every position lose to any team (no matter how good) that is just a team made up of only who was on that roster a particular year. Not even the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers, who are the best CFB team of all time.

The 1st flaw in your argument of my flaws is that I never said Miami was the best on the simulator. I said that VN has speculated that Miami was the greatest all time.

Here's one that'll make you guys happy.

The "Dream Team" (which only goes back to 1996, and rosters are based off the ratings in the database) beats up on the 2006 Florida team.
