I was thinking about the game yesterday, and several things came to mind...

-The home team in both matchups got off to quick starts and 10-0 leads.
-The home team played their backup QB in both games.
-There was a blocked punt in both games - by the home team.
-Both games were one-possession.
-The visiting team won both games.

Any other takeaways that may be cool or interesting to mention?

I would love it if this series was played more often - two of the more exciting games I've watched over the years.

Only 2 things I Really like about this game is that we won it and that we didn’t have any injuries.

Pitt should have went for the win with a two point conversion.
There were a lot of bad decision made, but if I was coaching, I would have made the game decision. We had only scored 3 points in the second half and looked bad on the offensive side of the ball. They had moved the ball better than us and had had the momentum. To me, it seemed like a reasonable decision. However, I am really pleased they did and we won.

* Margin of error *

Last year's Pitt team offered UT a slimmer margin of error than this year's team. In other words, this year's Pitt team offered UT more opportunities for mistake recapture than last year's team.

That last Pitt pass for the win was very fortunate for UT (obviously). I'm not sure UF, Ala, UGA, LSU or even Kentucky miss that throw at the end. If the pass hits the receiver in stride, then I believe he scores based on where the DBs were (they were too deep in the end zone). If Pitt scores right there (with a gimpy back-up QB), they may have pulled it out.

I'm not a Debbie-Downer, just watched UT long enough to be cautiously optimistic. The offense was off. Hooker had some passes that were overthrown (one could have been a TD). The defense looked better for the most part. Against top-notch talent, it's the little things that will get you beat (not hitting a wide-open WR; aligning too far off the ball on 4th and goal; etc.)
