I will get this game but the series so far as still peaked at SH2. The last 2 have been rather meh. Homecoming was ok but I hated that they actually borrowed from the movie (which I pretty much hated), and Shattered Memories should have been just a new game instead of a "reimagining" of the original. Most people seemed to hate SH4 but I actually enjoyed it more than SH3; I guess because it started out not even being a SH game.

I'll give this a shot, but Homecoming burned me bad. Silent Hill 2 was the pinnacle. In the likely case that Downpour sucks, at least we get 2 & 3 together in an HD collection the same month.

So I started playing this and so far I've figured out the save system is garbage. It only does autosaving, but it doesn't always save when it says it is. For instance, I went through a house and did a puzzle where I got a gun, then ran downstairs to the basement and after I got in the basement it pops up "Saving..". I then quit the game and turn it back on a few hours later, only to find it saved me well before all the things I did. So I ended up losing about 45 minutes of progress.

I decided to play through this game this past week and noticed the same thing. Regardless of it saying "saving" at the top, the only time it really saves is when it gets to another "Chapter" or "Stage" in the game.

Still a fun game, though. I finished it a couple days ago and was impressed with it overall.

How long did it take you to finish it? I've been hearing on average an 8 hour game, which is just about right for my attention span.

It's not that long at all. I think I clocked in at about 9-10 hours on my playthrough. I barely touched the side missions, though. I think I only did one of them.

How far are you into it btw? 8 hours is probably pretty accurate for completeing the main portion. There were a couple puzzles in the game that gave me fits, so I took a little longer than I probably should have.
