Silent Commits and Visits

I don't think there are any silent commits. But on the other hand you never know what Butch and his staff have up their sleeves. GO VOLS!

Most on here agree that CBJ has a no visit policy with his commits.

Most on here seem to believe that we have some silent commits. (Berrys, Hendrix, perhaps Mosley)

Would CBJ accept a silent commitment but allow that kid to continue to take visits?????

IMO the answer is no.

The Berrys are the only 2 silents I see as possible since I have seen no evidence they are taking visits.

I believe he would, Berrys are not taking any because it was too well known that they are going to Tennessee

I think that is why he has such a good relationships with the recruits because he doesn't demand them to stop taking visits.

If I'm a recruit, I don't commit until after an official to Oregon. Have you seen their cheerleaders??! Those girls bring new meaning to **** a duck. Seriously, I'd promise anything to get some of that action, then turn around and commit to UT when I got home.

Evan and Elliott did an interview with Hooker back towards the first of August.

Dave Hooker:
"So, who else is recruiting you guys?"
Evan and Elliott:
"Ha. No one." (the other one snorted in laughter.)

The interview is on tnsportsradio.com
Based on that exchange, I believe the Berry's have been 100% Tennessee since Auburn distanced themselves from Trooper (not that Auburn was ever a threat, just that Trooper had a strong relationship to the family.

I don't really understand this whole silent commit thing . If you are truly committed to a school why keep it silent?

It was mentioned the other day that we had several silentls 4 I believe per. Doug Matthews.
Blod statement but seemed to be in the know. See Recruitting thread by SI for more info.

Berry, Berry, Mosley, Thomas according to Coach Matthews.

Not to change the subject, but as I was driving home from work this evening, I caught the end of SportsTalk. Wilkerson made a statement about the recruiting class that led me to believe there may have been a de-commit, or a change in the number of spots to sign. I figured when I got home that I would see something about it on here, but nothing appears different. Anyone got anything from today?

Does it have something to do with Vincent Dallas and Alan Posey leaving the team?

Should help the 2015 class.
No telling what those two were talking about. Might have been referring to visitors for SC game. It was at the end of the show, and too late to call and say, "What the heck did you mean by that?"

How some of you continue to think "silents" don't exist is beyond me. There's been at least 3 or 4 commits who have admitted to committing but keeping it silent, most likely at Butch's request.

Anyone who thinks that string of commitments during foundation week was a coincidence is the definition of naive.

I think it's been pretty well-confirmed at this point that Coach Jones and the staff strategically use silent commits in order to buoy the fanbase at various times. Although we don't know for sure, it also seems logical to assume that CBJ doesn't let recruits go public with any possible silent commitments to Tennessee until they're done taking visits to other schools.

Although, I do think it's pertinent to mention that this only applies to players in the current recruiting cycle. I think there's definitely some 2015 guys who are publicly committed and still taking visits to other schools. Cherry comes to mind.

Edit: The proof's in the pudding, and whether he meant to or not 2015 DE commit Andrew Butcher just confirmed what everyone's suspected for a while: Coach Jones does not encourage visits after going public with a commitment.

"@ButcherAndrew1: The only bad thing about being committed is having to turn down all these other visits. Don't worry I'm still all Tennessee."

The Hendrix news today tells me 2 big things IMO.

Silents are happening with CBJ

Also those silents are not allowed to take visits. From my view As the mizzu visit got closer CBJ turned the heat up and got Hendrix to go public.

The no visit rule applys to silents as well IMO. (Not buying the booth story)

Mosley not going to Bama this week might be the same deal.
