Shelley transferring is probably the best thing for him. He's clearly not UT material or we would have tried our best to keep him. With the incoming class plus Lucas Taylor, Shelley wasn't going to see the field much as a Vol. I don't blame him for transferring and our coaching staff needs to get credit for allowing him the opportunity to go somewhere else.

I don't think Taylor is that great of a WR. Let's see how much playing time he gets compared to the newcomers.

He managed to find playing time as a true freshman when Robert Meachem, Jayson Swain, Bret Smith, Chris Hannon, and CJ Fayton were on the team.

He's not that great of a receiver. Give me one good reason why we should start him every game over O'Neal, Vinson, Rogers, Briscoe, Paige, and Jones.

Give me one good reason why we shouldn't. You can't. None of those guys have done anything either. He has more catches than all other UT wide receivers combined.

He's not the ideal size for WR. He's 5'10-5'10 1/2, fumbles, can't catch, drops easy passes, can't block very well...is that enough reason to give more talented players a chance?

Yawn. Name one time he's done any of those things while playing wide receiver. You act like Taylor's presence on the team prevents any of these guys from seeing the field. All they have to do is outplay him in practice and they'll play. If he's as bad as you think he is, the new guys won't have any trouble overtaking him. I imagine if that were the case, he'd take the Slick Shelley route.

Dropping passes and bad blocking...too many to count. I would rather Briscoe start before him and I don't like Briscoe that much either. Atleast Briscoe can catch the ball though.

You know nothing. This post proves it.

I think Lucas Taylor has been in the shadows of other guys so far in his career...I have a feeling he'll come around...

I know nothing? You're the one that thinks Taylor is a good WR.

When did I say that? I simply not ready to throw away our most experienced wideout in favor of a bunch of guys with little to no collegiate experience. I like how you couldn't produce an example of all these dropped passes and fumbles you claim Taylor has. I also think it's hilarious that you tout Briscoe as being able to catch the ball better than Taylor. I'm almost positive Briscoe leads the team in drops. He is however, a good blocker. But hey, I'll let you keep thinking you understand UT football.

I would love to see him help out the Vols, but I have seen nothing out of him since he has been here except for bad plays. Hopefully he can come around and live up to his 4* rating.

Also, it's not like Meachem had managed to stir up even mild NFL interest after his sophomore season. A year later, he's broken several UT receiving records and is a first round pick.

Actually that is a very good point. I know where you are coming from, none of the players coming in have SEC comp. experience like Taylor does, but you have to agree the he's had his fair share of bad plays and dropped passes. I'm just saying, since he hasn't really proven anything yet, why not let some younger, more talented players have a shot.
