Thig will probably get some $$. Recruiting coordinator is a position that needs an organizer and Coach G may have been a better fit.

It's just never good enough around here. DeBord get hired then people ask "well what about Coach Z". Coach Z gets a promotion and people ask "well what about Coach Thig?
If we ever win a title under Butch the first thing people will ask is "well yeah but can he sustain it?"

It will never be enough for some people. Can't please everybody I guess.

This is them setting the path for DeBord to groom Coach Z into the future OC. This was a way for DeBord to retire coaching.

Yeah, I don't see why everyone is worried about placating Azzanni or why we would move up Gillespie instead of Thigpen. Didn't Thigpen have a hand in 18 of the signees last year? Rivals named him Recruiter of the Year last year. From my perspective, that's the assistant you need to keep happy above all else.

Recruiting Coordinator isn't what you want for your ace recruiter though. There's a lot of BS involved with that job that would tie Thigpen up. Thig is a closer and probably the best one on staff with Butch, he has ties to a lot of schools in the southeast. Pay the guy, make sure he is happy but I doubt he wants the responsibilities that go with that job. Setting up travel, keeping up with player/position numbers/IE how many players at a specific position, coordinating all the particulars for official visits, compliance, etc, etc. It's not just a title it's an increase in BS juggling.

This makes a ton of sense. Staff continuity is a huge factor in every decision made by Coach Jones. He understands it's importance.
