Should UTK fans consider this tactic?

It seems that an overwhelming consensus of respondents think the flying banner idea is classless and/or that Fulmer warrants enough respect that this should not be done at UTK. I respect all of your opinions but I remain willing to contribute to the effort if anyone out there wants to get the ball rolling.

It's a silly gesture that is ultimately self defeating. Why make a martyr out of a coach you want terminated?

Why you think this is a good move?

I suppose I agree with hv's point. Without rooting for losses, i'll just say that I hope the season takes care of itself and Phil is off the Hill come December, if not sooner.

Why don't you guys supporting the airplane banner idea save some face and donate the money to the VASF.

That is one of the worst ideas I've heard lately. I would be ashamed to even be a fan of the same team as somebody that would do that to CPF. I think he needs to go, but he deserves to leave with dignity.

perhaps valid was the wrong word. But he is stating a firm belief he has. While I would never do it, my buddy and I were wondering if we would see any of the banners at the Arky St game.

Ah yes. The right honorable Phil Fulmer who clearly demonstrates his self respect through his appearance and who also demonstrated his own brand of "loyalty" when Coach Majors had his heart attack. How could anyone ever imagine that he is anything but a paragon of virtue and dignity? I don't know what I was thinking.

So that makes points invalid. This coming from you?

I'll explain. The idea of paying to fly a banner over the game is a classless tactic. There is no point to support this tactic that would be valid based on the action.

and the winner of this thread goes to Hillbilly, although i feel the two wrongs don't make a right coming along, or that this went so far over most people's head that it is not even funny.

OK. I was more focused on your idea that if someone's view gets beat down endlessly then their idea is invalid. I would not think you of all people would want this to be true.

I don't want to squabble about this. For the first time in years i feel like i am in the majority on the coaching issue and despite my best attempts to sit on my fingers and keep the powder dry the past couple of weeks, sometimes old habits die hard. I'll try to refrain from piling on, but if somehow the Vols squeak it out over UGA and I start seeing a bunch of posts about how Phil has turned it around i will consider it game on.

:peace2: Go Vols!

Differences of opinions are good. Bad ideas are bad.
