I'm getting out the old consoles to sell on ebay. They aren't doing anything in a box in the garage so I may as well get what I can out of them right?

Anyway I'm really torn on selling my original NES. Still works.... With a little coaxing. Ive also got about 25 or so games still (and some doubles for some reason). Even though it will go right back intl stalrage there is just a sentimental attachment to it. I also kinda want to show it to my two boys one day.

I dunno, am I being silly?

Id keep it to show your boys. They wont believe the "crappy" games we had back then.

The games weren't crappy, but to kids growing up with games nowadays, they would suck. I miss the old games

No way, keep it. Then again I am a collector(hoarder).

Blow the dust from the cartridges and play on. NES and SNES are perfect for mindless relaxation.

That's the direction in leaning. More than anything it will be fun to show it them in a few more years.

I have that problem too. I'm finally starting to part with stuff I've been collecting (hoarding) for years. Once you move a handful of times and it gets to we're you don't even unpack some stuff then you start to wonder why you keep it.

Super NES is going. I only have a few games left for that system. I did power it up and play a quick round of Super Castlevania IV though.

On a side note, I really regret letting "friends" borrow games back in the day. I probably had over 100 NES games at one time and 20 to 30 SNES. Shame.

I kept my SNES for the sole purpose of playing Super Mario RPG. Emulator's just can't do it justice.

May I ask the game collection? You may have one worth quite a bit.

A few to keep an eye out for.

Family Fun Fitness: Stadium Events (apx. $10,000-$40,000)
Nintendo World Championships (apx. $10,000-$40,000)
Nintendo Campus Challenge (apx. $15,000-20,000)
Dragon Wars ($2,000-$5,000)
Caltron (up to $1,500)
Flintstones Surprise at Dino Peak ($1,000-$2,500)
Myriad (apx, $1,000-$5,000)
Cheetahmen (up to $1,000)
Little Samson (up to $1,000)
Punch-Out Special Edition (up to $1,000)

There are a lot of them worth in the $50-$200 range. You'd be surprised. Most are games released after the SNES. A few were adult games that were not sold in retail stores.

TBO, I'd keep it. The gaming industry is only getting larger. Having an original that works is only going to up in value.

Wow I wish I just had one of those. I mostly have the popular titles that there are probably 100s of 1000s of copies floating around. Like MT Punch Out, Dragon Warrior 1&2, Top Gun... The usual classics.

Some common games can be worth quite a bit if you have the box(including the Styrofoam), manual, and condition of the cartridge. I sold a gray cartridge Zelda in the box with manual for $150 on eBay several years ago(the game itself is only worth $20 tops). Of course I replaced the battery so it was a working game that would keep memory. Still yet, if you're and avid yard sell/flea market goer. It might be a good idea to invest in any game that has a box if it's cheap. I made a list of games for a buddy I worked with who used to go to flea markets on the weekend looking for antiques. You'd be surprised at what you'd make off eBay with the rare games that didn't sell well due to the SNES release.

Too bad you don't have Dragon Warrior IV. It's worth around $150.

I've heard enough about Super Mario RPG that I'm considering picking it up. I still have my old NES and SNES.

To the OP, no way would I sell the NES. But I won't sell my SNES either. I still have fun playing them. I will always want to be able to play Contra or Tecmo Super Bowl.

Never know when you're gonna feel the urge for some old school gaming. Though, I've probably played video games for 3 hours total in the past 3 months. :/

That's funny. We went through 3 Ataris as a kid. Oddly enough I don't have the console anymore but I have 6 games and a joystick.

That was actually a problem with the plastic. The they fixed that with the later models.

That's how mine is too. The top half is yellow. I looked it up on eBay and that seems to be a common problem.
