I just got a PS3 for Christmas. I have the second tier braodband internet from Charter. Will this work? Does anyone else have this and if so, how is it? I want to go online, but I am not sure I want to pay $30 more a month to do it.

I don't think he meant that, charter's 2nd tier isn't as fast as their first tier broadband, that's why it's $30 cheaper. My Mom has Charter's 2nd tier and it worked fine with her computer and two old xboxes online at the same time.

To go online with PS3 is free, but if the second tier is too slow then I don't know if I want to upgrade my internet service for $30 more a month.

That sounds encouraging...

I really want to do it, I would just like to talk to someone who is online with the second tier before i buy a router and all.

connect your PS3 directly to your modem first, it should work without any problem. If that works, then just about any router will do. If you're not going to go wireless, don't pay the extra money and get a standard, wired-only router.

Your internet speed is fine. Gaming really isn't all that speed dependant. There's isn't a ton of data getting swapped back and forth.

i can't imagine using my PS3 without a high speed connection. particurally when downloading updates and demos.
