I'm not bashing Simms. I think he did good yesterday. He can't help it if his WRs don't catch the ball, but since this is a rebuilding year and we aren't expecting much, why not just go ahead and get Bray experience since he'll be our starter down the road anyways?

I'm with you, I kinda wish he would just start Bray and go with it. The thing is our OL is missing assignments and is in a work in progress, Simms has escape ability that Bray does not. They have their advantages and disadvantages but I think Bray is going to get pounded if we put him in there now. Simms may not have the throwing talent that Bray has, but he can at least move out of the pocket quickly when it crashes.

The coaches see him every day, he apparently isn't ready. You'll probably get your wish, Simms took some monster shots yesterday from UAB. Yeah UAB, just imagine what LSU, Bama and Carolina will do to him. Simms isn't going to last the year taking these types of shots week after week.

Why on earth would you start him now with the Oct. Schedule we have. Crazy.

No need to demoralize him.

It will be his team to run next year.

Because he isn't physically ready to take the abuse.

If this were a deep, veteran OL and he beat Simms out then you start him.

I think he will be great. I think he could be the guy to lead UT back to the top. I don't want his career to end before it starts.

It could actually make them worse if Simms really is that much better at "managing the offense".

It think it would. Simms moves pretty well in the pocket. He does sit on the ball and take some sacks, but when you are getting pressure right up the middle not a lot you can do. I would rather him take the sack than throw an INT.

IMO he should make a little competition to see if Simms will actually start playing like a QB. But no t start Bray yet. to tough of a schedule for a Freshman to start playing in.

The thing is Simms isn't playing horrible. He is playing decent, better than I expected.

Yep, and it would seem that he learned his lesson on that over the last couple of weeks. This game (first of all, we did win) isn't on Simms.

Also, I feel like people are forgetting that Simms is a Junior. I imagine that if he continues to improve the starting job will be his to lose going into next year.

Not yet but it's getting close....a lot of it falls on our young OL though.....a QB needs time to make throws. I know it's not all his fault(Simms) but being like 1-34 on 3rd and 6 or longer is going to kill us in October

If you thought Crompton was bad, You should put him on the field with this supporting cast. It would be horrible.

Benching Simms wouldn't solve anything. You could put Tom Brady in charge of this unit and we would still struggle.
