This weekend I noticed the following odd shortages or supply chain oddities:

Still no Gatorade at the grocery. Been this way for a month.

Peanut related products seem sparse. Like granola bar stuff. The ones I found are roughly 2x the price I'm used to.

Gas in South Florida was 3.91 a gallon. Just 75 miles north, it was just 3.00 a gallon.

Restaurants are clearly struggling to find and keep decent workforce. Places I frequent seem to have new, surly wait staff every time I go in.

What are your experiences, the things that stick out to you where you are.

DollarTree had oddly under stocked shelves of toothpaste a couple weeks back.

I think I’m gonna hoard some toilet paper before it becomes a thing again.

Petrol prices make no sense to me. On the 9 mile swing to work (Western Maryland), I pass by everything from $3.39 down to $3.19. There's no apparent rhyme or reason.

Our little corner of heaven just opened up a brand new Dunkin. Good luck getting in. Fully staffed, and you can tell the crowd has been waiting for this. A block away, a Starbucks is going on right next to a brand new Taco Bell. It's drive through heaven or hell, whichever way you want to look at it. Fully staffed all.

Heavy lifting businesses like the 84 lumber are struggling. No one wants to do physical labor for the payment offered. I'll try to snap a pic of the landscaping business on National Highway that's sign says "Pray that God will send us applicants" or something similar.

Many of the local businesses that are having trouble with staffing have hours that run concurrent to the University. That hurts their ability to hire some of my kids who are looking for jobs.

My wife does the shopping (I'm not allowed - I'm really bad at sticking to lists) but she's not had to alter things much. We do a lot of cooking from fresh. I'd say 90% of our groceries come from Aldi.

Just paid $2.82 for gas at Costco Tampa.
Went to Walmart last week to check prices for flip flops. There were stock outs in about half of the department.
A friend of mine makes Christmas baskets with food and kitchen products. She can’t find baskets.

China sourcing, I'm guessing.

Yes. It is odd to see empty shelves at Walmart.
BTW- Costco has been out of Flan for over two months. I asked about it on Friday and the Costo employee told me that they cannot get condensed milk.

Most recent one we got was uncrustables. Couldn't find those things anywhere

We can’t find Gatorade anywhere. Had to get the powder stuff and we just mix it. Agree with the gas weirdness too. There is a 40 cent swing depending where in the city you are.

Saltine crackers, the normal ones are just gone.

Varrying brands of chips, seems like every week one of the big brands will be missing.

Sandwich meats will go missing as well.

Gatorade

Whole wheat bread.

Boxed applejuice is always an empty shelf.

Lunchables has an issue every other week.

It appears retail is not interested in keeping up with holiday decor inventory. They get what they get and if it's out then that's that. Target was already putting Christmas decor on clearance to replace with bulk order of trending toys on December 10th. I find that odd. Halloween was the same. A week before Halloween, home Depot already turned that section over. In 2019 and prior, it was the day after the holiday that this occurred.

The obvious restaurant issues, expecting chicken to disappear.

Wings have no business being the price that they are and I've given up buying them.

Gatorade has been an issue far longer than a month in my area. Ironically, Powerade is readily available.

Haven't paid attention to peanut related products, but name brand peanut butter itself is available but near $6 for the standard midsized tub we all probably buy. The Great Value brand was $2.75 for the 40 oz. upsize yesterday however.

Gas in my town varies wildly. From 2.89 in town to 2.75 out by my house at the county convenience stores.

The only place we've eaten out at lately is Texas Roadhouse. They have plenty of capable and friendly staff. Can't speak to the others, but I highly suspect TRH is the exception locally.

A really weird one yesterday was Wal Mart not having one single package of puppy pee pads.

There has been a chicken wing shortage in this country since this past February. The local meat market that I normally buy my wings from hasn't had a steady supply since the Super Bowl. It has slightly improved over the last few weeks, but between March and July/August, it was hit or miss going in that place.

Same here with sandwich meats. For me though, it depends on which store I go to on sandwich meat stock. Wal Mart is the worst. Bacon too. However, Food Lion, Kroger, Aldi, Publix don't seem to have as much an issue there.

The regular saltines is a marketing thing however. Nabisco and other major brands have migrated to the topped with sea salt variant. They have been doing this for a while. We do not like those. You have to look to off brands to get normal saltines now.

Gas station fried chicken has disappeared, but the tenders are readily available. So, where does the rest of the chicken go? Only one station near me has roasted chicken legs.
