Factoring in injuries on both sides (also considering performances before the injury bug bit)

Who has had the better season so far?

DeBord:
Total O: 80th
Rushing: 72nd
Passing: 78th
Scoring: 63rd

Shoop:
Total D: 88th
Rushing: 107th
Passing: 43rd
Scoring: 84th

Both have been lackluster this season IMO. I Feel like this is the most poorly coached team of Butch's tenure, and it started against A State when everybody was healthy.

Shoop is the bigger disappointment to me though.

Shoop is hamstrung by the offensive scheme

We need to slow it down to give our D time to rest

D players are taking way too many snaps.

First season defensive cord. He's done fine.

Shoop has adjusted in the 2nd half and managed to keep us in games that we had the potential to get blown out in. He's set Debord up a few times with good field position to make those wins possible. Injuries have eaten the defensive side of the ball up. You can only scheme around so many injuries. I know I was in the "we have played without these guys most of the season, we will be alright" camp but it showed yesterday.

SEC Rankings

DeBord:
Total O: 11th
Rushing: 11th
Passing: 7th
Scoring: 7th

Shoop:
Total D: 10th
Rushing: 13th
Passing: 4th
Scoring: 12th

I think since teams can run with relative ease on us it makes our pass defense look better than it may be. Still, I'm not sure if I'd want to pick either side to say which is better. Is there a 3rd option?

The injuries have hit Shoop harder and for a longer time than they have Debord. One thing to keep in mind when we were less injured (going back a month or so) we were still having issues on both sides.

Exactly

They forget we had to go into OT to beat Appy State

We arent as good as the 5-2 record would indicate. We saw it yesterday

Name some specifics against Shoop. In 7 games we have played 5 ranked teams. Plus 2 straight against undefeated teams. My concerns are this...I think we need a true qb coach and a change at the Oline coach.

I'm asking the question, who has had the better season so far.

Personally I think both have performed poorly, but if I had to choose I'd give DeBord the slight nod.

Shoop's first year excuse? Aren't the schemes similar to what we ran last year? If there was an adjustment period expectation then why make a switch in a supposed championship run year?

Too much time on the field? In the first 6 games we won TOP in 3.

Injuries? Yep on both sides of the ball.

Plus, his D has basically played well in half of every game (except yesterday).

DeBord has been mediocre as well

Also, I agree with both your concerns

I would focus more on positions that haven't improved much in the past 4 years. We need a true qb coach and a change with the Oline coach.

Totally agree Count. I hate this hurry up BS

You and me both

We need a pocket passer.

An offensive scheme that lets the line know they are blocking for a run or blocking for a pass

A power running game instead of running out of the shutgun and handing off flat footed, 5 yards deep in the backfield

We don't need a pocket passer, we need to scheme around good players.

A pocket passer is fine, a dual threat is fine. What's idiotic is trying to turn Dobbs into Dan Marino.

Bama did well with a qb that can't throw a ball in the ocean.
