Shoop hype ?

In the last few years we have been able to score points against almost every team. Even the good ones. Where we have been falling short is on defense. We cannot stop the good teams. We actually lose because of our defense.
Do you think Shoop will live up to the hype that came with him in 2017, or will our defense continue to look like the Key Stone Cops?.
It has been so long since we have had a top notch SEC defense, my head aches.

I agree, but I also think if the defensive line improves as a unit we will still be in good shape. Most teams were able to solely focus on Barnett, if we have multiple threats on the line then it will balance the field. I think we will see a big leap forward in the LBs and Secondary too. Regardless, it's put up or shut up time.

Yes, considering last year's defense was statistically the WORST DEFENSE IN TENNESSEE HISTORY. We have nowhere to go but up.

Unless... they give up 800 yards a game in their final few games instead of 700 like last year. That would be worse. You almost have to want to to give up that many yard for that to happen.

I think you have to love any Vols coach that has the nads to announce I was hired to stop the Gators. I hope he lives up to it too, I dislike Bama but at least they respect tradition and show good sportsmanship usually. With Florida, with me its personal...a victory is a holiday, a loss to them is like my house burned down. Shut em down coach Shoop! For my taste so far he's been a little too conservative because I'd go man to man more and blitz more, but he probably has good reasons for what hes doing.

Hey, on the bright side, almost anything other than ultimate disaster supersedes your predictions. You're bound to be pleasantly suprised by even a mediocre performance.

2nd half of the Florida game is the bar. It shouldn't matter who we are playing, defense needs to shut them down.

A defense can give up a few points early, but by halftime, the DC has to figure out how to get the stops.

A punt needs to be the norm, a turnover is icing, points are the expectation.

Defense wins games.

Get it together Shoop.
