Bob Shoop is on campus now meeting with Butch Jones and staff throughout the afternoon according to John Brice.

Shoop wouldn't physically visit another university unless it was down to the details?

I wonder how many, if any other candidates will be interviewed. Honestly I have a feeling that like with DeBord, this is Jones' guy and all this is merely a formality.

I'm thinking a deal has been agreed to in principle, and they're finalizing it now. Plus it's a chance for him to get acquainted with the staff and to see how the players will respond. Which I'm expecting our defense to be very happy with Shoop as our new DC.

I mean at any given time a coach should have a shortlist of coaches that they would want to hire for assistants if they have to get a new guy for any reason. AD's should also always have a list of head coaches for every sport to hire if need be. If you get your first guy on the list there is nothing wrong with not interviewing other guys.

Exactly. he wouldn't be on campus just to see if he's interested...unless him and Franklin have conspired an evil plot...

Did anyone hear any more about the rumored mandatory mtg for the Penn State team at 9 this morning?

This was posted in the Bob Shoop thread sometime yesterday afternoon or evening IIRC.

As some of you have smartly suggested, I dont think CBJ would have parted ways with CJJ without something VERY FIRM already in place.

I seriously doubt a "search" was launched after parting with Jancek, especially in the midst of closing off the recruiting season. This was a bigger picture event from the get-go no doubt.

If Shoop is on campus, this is likely in the dot "i's" - cross "t's" mode.
