Shocking..GA Football

What is it with these Georgia football players and speeding ? Is it something in the water down there in Athens ?
107 mph with a passenger no less, What the hell is that ? That is life-threatening and these idiots have already killed two people during Kirby's era.
You get on the loop down there, and people think it's a Nascar track. I went the other day, gotta go back in the morning to pick a door up. Speed limit is 65, some spots 55, I was doing 75, and getting left like I wasn't moving.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be against that at all. But then people would just say “well they were suspended for the Marshall game”, or some such. But yeah, I agree with stiffer penalties to set an example.
They would be correct. That is exactly what would happen. Give him a paid day off against a practice team.

Absolutely true. There’s a big difference between getting pulled over on Atlanta Hwy or Broad St vs that 10 loop. I was on that loop yesterday and you’re right, it’s so easy to do 15 over. Now 107 in a 55….a little harder to explain.

On a lighter note, I’m thinking we should come up with a new slogan for recruits “Come to GA, bc here, it’s either the NFL or Jail!”

All joking aside, it is a serious issue and it needs to be dealt with. I don’t know what should be done, but I can’t imagine that the University or Kirby is taking this lightly. Hopefully some wisdom prevails and things get better.
The rivals things aside, he does need to take it seriously because more people could wind up dead, of course Georgia will probably not develop a bad reputation as a result of more deaths, but can you imagine if this sort of pattern were happening in Knoxville, the stink it would cause, and rightfully so?

This is getting to be an really bad trend with Georgia players concerning wrecks and high speed chases. It doesn't seem that a couple of deaths due to this will deter them. It's like they think because theyre young and good at football that they're unfortunately untouchable. It's something that needs to be addressed and if Kirby doesn't then someone does.

There's something unique going on at UGA with respect to reckless driving/racing. Young guys with money in fast cars and driving crazy isn't anything new, but it is a "thing" at UGA that doesn't seem to be happening at other schools to anywhere near the same extent.

The absolutely insane thing to me is it isn't like they had a bunch of incidents that culminated in someone getting killed, and that put an end to it. Instead, it didn't seem to get completely out of control until after a teammate and staff member died. I don't think it has helped that Kirby has made a series of fairly nonchalant statements about it over the years that he's been able to almost completely escape scrutiny from because he wins a lot.

This latest incident, as bad as it is, doesn't quite fit into the same category as the others, but it's yet another issue involving motor vehicles.

I had to give you the upvote bc I certainly agree that it’s a problem and certainly needs to be dealt with or somehow corrected. I truly don’t think the GA program is in anyway turning a blind eye to this though, and if they are, shame on us!

I’m assuming that it’s more a product of young men having access to high wealth, and not yet being properly educated. Every program is adjusting to this new reality, but there certainly needs to be an effort put in to educating these young men into making the right decisions. Perhaps we (UGA) are failing in that. Hopefully we correct this and can be an example to other programs to the importance of these type of circumstances.

Sad I know, but it would depend on how well the team was playing.

If Heupel had won a couple national titles and was only losing 1 or 2 games a year in the midst of it, he'd be able to skate on it just like Kirby has.

UGA athletics should make a policy that if you’re arrested for speeding going forward you have to hand over your keys and will be issued a bicycle to travel around Athens.

There is a rule in place:

“If you’re going to break vehicular laws you better be a good player, then it will get swept under the rug. Otherwise you’re getting the boot”
