First...Congrats gators...if there are any question marks on your team, TENNESSEE wasnt the team to expose them.

Second, I knew going in there was a chance UT could lose, but by the score, I am truly shocked.

Third, There is no excuse for giving up 41 PPG...say what you want about the offense but when a defense cant hold on, it puts the offense in a perilious situation.

Fourth, what ever happens to Fulmer and/or his staff...it happens.

Finally, Im here to take my medicine. Ive been taking up for the TEAM all season long. I will continue to do so. There are enough gator boards and bammer boards on here to bad mouth the VOLS, and if some of my VOL Bretheren want to be lumped in with them, be my guest. BUT not this VOL fan.

GO BIG ORANGE!!!

I am still a true Tennessee Fan. I will wear my orange hat to work today, I will fly my orange flag on my car, and i will still support the team. But i am also a realist. As long as the current coaching staff is around we will be getting 7-5 and 8-4 year after year. That is unexceptable in Tennessee

It may surprise you to know that most of the people on this board that you would consider to be "Negavols" are not here to argue with you or to say "I told you so". I really feel sorry kids on this team.

Sometimes we simply feel like the best way to take up for them, and the entire Volnation is to point out the fact that they are slighted by the current coaching they are receiving.

Case and point: Of all things, you would think that by now the special teams would be at least slightly improved, but as we move forward they are getting worse.

Perhaps the best way to take up for this team is to simply admit we are getting outcoached and outplayed way too often.

Is it time for Fulmer to go? I think it is. Am I going to constantly beat the "fire FUlmer" drum...no Im not. Football season only lasts about 3 months a year and Im going to enjoy the rest of the season. Cause I wont have any until September of next year.

Personally, and I read this on another board, I think CPF needs to do the best thing and just retire. If he is a true VOL fan, even he has to realize he just isnt getting it done anymore.

But whatever happens, my biggest fear is having to go through what bammers are going through...a revolving door of coaches.

Hey VN have you ever thought of this....... What IF ( and there is a BIG if here) Tennessee runs the board the rest of the year, and they end up finishing the season 10-2? I really dont think that Florida can hang with LSU, and that will put Florida with one Loss in the SEC, we would be right there in the hunt. I know its a HUGE HUGE if, but its very possible. Lets not get all discouraged and hang our heads. We have lost to two POWERHOUSE offenses to start off the season, and that rough on any team.

I really think that Fulmer and his staff will have this team turned around by this week, look for some new people on the field that havent played yet. Possibly could see some more true freshman playing, something has got to change and I really think they can see that and will make them this week...Thoughts on all this?

While that is certainly possible, I don't think that it is inevitable. There are enough good coaches out there that would take the job.

You will see a few new faces. But with new faces comes mistakes and fulmer can't afford mistakes right now.So thats why you won't see as much youth injection as you would like. But at this point what could it hurt.Fulmer's ship is sinking anyway why not go down swinging.

EXCATLY, what do we have to lose I am sure there are some good freshamn recievers on the bench, and we need to put Crompton in some snaps, expecially on some hand off, and I dont even know that you would limit Ainge with that pinky, it looked as if it was really bothering him on Saturday!

I don't know whose fault it is but bottom line is Saturday they were outmanned and out performed. The players did not execute at all. Bad quaterback play, receiver play, back play, linebacker play, secondary play, and line play equals a butt kickin any day of the week and twice on Saturday! You could have the best coach in the world and if the kids aren't performing the basics on the field then it doesn't matter.

We started out the 1980 seaon 0-2, losing to UGA (Hershels frosh year) and So. CAL by a combined 4 points...no body was screaming for anybodys job because we played them hard.

The next season, we started out again 0-2, losing those 2 games by a combined 87-7. That is when I started hearing calls for Majors head.

I dont mind a loss...hell even the PSU game last year doesnt bother me as bad as some on here. As long as we are IN IT. Saturday, we were gone after the first quarter.

we were in the game and lost major momentum when ainge tried that backhand hand-off. that was the first time, i think all of us, realized it could be a hindrance in the future. i don't knwo how broke the pinky seems to be, but it must be worse than we all thought.

Gotta love your optimism but I said the exact same thing last week in preparation for the UF game. I thought we would see the VOLS we are used to. We all know how that turned out. The gameplan was the same since Randy Sanders was here. No different at all, we just threw to the other side of the field this game. I also thought we would look wayyyy better for the SOuthern Miss game. THey just couldnt stop the run and that says alot about the state of their defense. If they couldnt stop our run game then they have to be fairly bad.

Bottom line, we will not look any different anytime soon. We have become so accustomed to watching the same 4 plays for the past 5 years we all can pretty much call the game ourselves. TO me that is Fulmer. Not Cutcliff.

Ainge has been doing this ever since he broke his pinky, not just on that one hand off. Not sure what happened on this one play, but it wasn't the only time his had handed it off that way.

For those of you who say that we don't have the talent that FL has, you're crazy. It's there, but without the proper coaching in practice leading up to the game, we're not going to perform up to standards. I read somewhere, or heard it during the game (on sat.) that during practice, the freshman quarterback for UT came out wearing a superman suit making fun of Tebo. Well I guess that is what every top SEC school does to prepair for a top five team, joke around in practice. THAT'S B.S. if you ask me. Can we get a coach like Saben that changes his team over the summer. And his young team is exicted to play for him and is Winning. It's not hard to see the difference in what one coach has done for them.

It seems that our program peaked with the 2001 victory at Florida. The next week we lost to a far inferior team in LSU at the SEC Championship game. Ever since it seems we have been going downhill. We have slipped from elite to mediocre. I don't know what happened, if the game passed Coach Fulmer by or what but things need to change for us to go back in a positve direction. Saturday was rediculous but it seems that is becoming the norm rather than the excpetion. Here's hoping they can get it turned around and put us back up to where we are used to being. :good!:

Somebody needs to work the stat but I am willing to bet that no one else in the NCAA has number of points given to the opposition per fumble that Arian Foster has. That play broke my back. I'm tired of seeing this program sag like Bob Dole without the little blue pill. As far as I'm concerned, Fulmer is sitting on Vesuvius.

We had someone come over during the 4th quarter. Someone who knows nothing about football. She asked "Who's playing" I said "Florida is playing, Tennessee is kind of standing around watching"

At the end they played like they where COACHED. Game is over lets punt and try not to win. That punt at the cal game got under my skin, now I know truly why. You tell who you are by what you do. When you give up expect the others around you to do so also. The players had done how they had been coached...... To punt

or just throw the ball away on 4th down!

and we have a track record that proves we aren't going to "knee jerk react" to a bad season. 25+ years, 2 coaches.

there's plenty here to attract a quality head coach, 1st time around.

Sorry but it is the QB's responsibility to "seat" the football in the Rb's belly, that one is on Ainge , and yes I know he's doing it left handed because of the broken pinky, but it is still his responsibilty.
