I know he was injured in the spring and was supposed to be back by June or July. Any updates on his condition or whether he will be participating in camp?

I know JG is considered the future and all, but Jones is a player that I believe has a lot of upside to him. I remember the staff was pretty high on him during his recruitment and let's be honest, it's not easy for a team to allow a transfer and allow a transfer back in without some hesitation.

I can't remember where I read it, but someone stated he could potentially be 2nd string this year. Remember QD was an EE so he had more time to learn the system last year. SJ was a dual threat with a huge arm coming out of high school. He's had his redshirt year. It might be an interesting battle. I'm excited to learn the pecking order. Not sure on injury update.

Just never sell this youngster short. He has ALL the things it takes to be a better than Dobbs Dobbs', just sayin'. Not sure QD is or can be that. Hope we don't have to find out either this season.

Jones is a true duel threat QB with a cannon if he can pass just a little better than Dobbs imagine this offense

It could be crazy productive but I don't think we will see a better running QB at Tennessee for a long time. Some of the plays he makes on the ground on almost unbelievable. Defenders just slide off like he's a greased pig.

I doubt Sheriron ever takes a meaningful snap at Tennessee. I just don't see the talent.

Guarantano and Dormady are both better than him.

Jones certainly has a cannon. I still think Guarantano is the best of the three backups, but it will be interesting to see how all three develop.

What hesitation? Had we been discussing a OL, WR, or most any other position, what you say might make sense.

But Jones was the No. 3 QB. When he transferred to Colorado, who could blame him? He saw he was stuck behind Dobbs and Dormady, and Guarantano was on the commit list. Odds of him seeing playing time? Low.

He got up there, looked around, and realized he would rather be pushing the guys he was with at Tennessee than trying to lead Colorado. Would letting him back cause hesitation? He just paid the current program and staff the biggest compliment any player could.

With how fast he was checking to see if he could get back? And the rules actually allowing it? You better not hesitate. Even if he doesn't get a start, this is one guy you want talking to official visitors. A back up QB? Who would have thought that?

as long as no one has any injury situations, Dormady is fully expected to be the number 2.

They really, do, you see him run the ball sometimes and think, "How'd he just do that.? He's no Condredge Holloway or Jimmy Streater, but he's pretty special, plus a great young man! He will take the baton from Peyton when the time comes and be the face of UT the way Peyton has the last twenty five years!

My favorite thing about Dobbs,
So many times that I'm positive he is being taken down, he pops out the other side. Usually in the end zone.

I don't think the odds of him seeing playing time are as low as you think. Again, Dormady was an EE. Not taking anything away from him because he is an excellent passer from what we've seen, but SJ supposedly is a great passer as well and has the legs to go with it. I think we'll see him on the field this season. I believe JG will redshirt this season.

As I've said before, Dobbs is faster, more elusive, and better in the open field than either Hurd or Kamara.

I might go with kamara there, but the fact that we have a qb in this convo is crazy. I could def see a case for him being the best on our team in the open field.

Qd has looked absolutely awesome...all be it in limited action. I can't imagine jones would pass him on the depth chart

Not so sure I completely agree but he's a great runner either way. I can't help but think back and laugh that people on here would argue that he couldn't run and was a pro style qb when he first signed with us. Where they at now?

I agree and I've mentioned it several times over the years. For those who have actually played the game, there are those guys that as a defender that have a knack you notice. The first knack some have is you just never really get a solid shot on them, I mean when you have a chance to just blow them up and make a highlight reel, they just move in a way or go down in a way that's not blown up, you just never get a solid hit on them even if you tackle or sack them. A second knack some kids have is as offensive players they hit a second gear when they don't even realize they have when a defender comes into their area, it's like hitting a racing engine with nitro unexpectedly. Dobbs has both these knacks, he does get tackled and sacked, it is rare anybody just nails him, he seems to take his sweet time even hitting the ground, it's like he's looking for a softer landing spot and again, his 40 times are probably not blazing yet guys that do have blazing 40 times are often found chasing him. The kid has the IT factor when it comes to being elusive on the football field IMO.
