Sheriron Jones' fiery sideline message motivates Vols

ESPN sideline reporter Sam Ponder described third-string quarterback Sheriron Jones’ sideline pep talk the best.
“The catalyst in the change in energy was the least likely of players,” Ponder said. “It was the backup quarterback Sheriron Jones, who isn’t even on the two-deep (depth chart), coming up to the offensive line saying ‘y’all promised us you wouldn’t do this.’ Things were getting so fired up that some of the offensive lineman had to hold him back.”

This kid is a natural leader and don't count him out in 2017. It will be a three horse race and he has just as much talent as QD and JG imo. It wouldn't shock me one bit if he isn't starting at some point next year.

serious question, if he is never going to see the field as a QB why don't they look at WR or DB and get him to use that leadership rather than leaving it on the bench?

He has earned at least a drive in garbage time this year because of the leadership he demonstrated on Saturday. I don't know if he is really the answer to any of our concerns, but I'm glad he's got courage to stand up to the lineman as a 4th string QB. I like the kid and think he is athletic, I watched him at the spring game 2015. I wish the best and it would be awesome if he had or developed nicely.

I remember saying that he'll see the field next year in some role. And I still think he will.

Some of you guys just like putting him down at any and every opportunity, don't you?

Not putting him down. I really like Dobbs. My observation is still correct...he needs to provide some more passion and get in his Oline's face. The fact that we are talking about this in a thread about a backup providing an emotional spark to the team only proves my point.

Not being racist but Dobbs could be a WR and so could Jones. Yes I am white but but seen a lot more God given talent to black athletes especially when it involves speed. We can't help that God made white folks slower and most can't jump six inches off the ground. Just saying.

It doesn't prove your point. He's gotten fired up plenty of times, this game it happened to be from an unlikely source. You can criticize certain aspects of his game, that's warranted. But if you haven't been able to tell that he gives his all for Tennessee every time he steps out on the field then you haven't been paying attention.

Now, if we can only get our starting QB to show some of the same fire.

I agree conditionally. Dobbs shows a great deal of fire in his play but I just don't see it in his player leadership. I'm surprised no one has posted his VT post-game interview where he praised the OL for their great game (really?). He's offering false praise when he should have been showing the same sideline leadership as Shrriron.

You hang out with some slow fat white people. You need a more motivated crew with healthier eating habits.

Don't think his reasoning was racially driven whatsoever....

Wasnt trying to say it was. This is big time college football. Not middle school or high school. Im just tired of reading "why doesnt this player just play this different position? The coaches must not know what theyre doing." Its just getting ridiculous on here.

Have you seen Dobbs run a route? Have you seen Jones run a route? Have you seen them either of them catch a football? It takes more than being fast to be a good WR in this league.

Dobbs looked great catching the pass from Jennings and running down the sideline against UF last year.

If he doesn't win the starting QB job, he'll transfer to somewhere he can. Same as the other candidates.

Sheriron is a QB. We agree. Switching positions is a waste of that talent.
