Shaq is Still a Monster

He weighs 350. Of course he can. If he could make a ft, he'd still be a #1 option.

It's just crazy to me to see Howard get knocked around like that. I mean damn Howard is one of the biggest guys in the league. Shaq dipped his shoulder into him, and you could tell Howard was like "DAMN!"

Shaq isn't *that* good anymore. He just takes up a lot of space in the lane.

Shaq's demise was predictable. Size, strength combined with crazy athleticism at that size made him dominant in a league made of goofy rules. He never had any discernable basketball skill, so as soon as his athleticism dwindled a little, he simply became a huge guy with no game to fall back on. Complete opposite of Alcindor who had an indefensible offensive weapon predicated on skill.

Yeah, pretty much.

Although I'd argue the no skill thing, I think he did have some while in Orlando and his early years in Los Angeles.

Either way, he still has a worthwhile niche carved out for himself. Reason enough that teams should still be offering him contracts.

IMO, Shaq will get a mid-level contract after this year. The days of him being a $20 million a year franchise guy are over. I still like Shaq, and he still can play, but he is a shadow of his former self.
