Jackie Sherrill cheated. Every coaching job he had, he broke the rules. He’d get caught, and the program paid the price. That’s not a great coach, in my opinion. I don’t care if he was good with the Xs and Os. He was “dirty.”
Just another Bear Bryant protege. Bill Battle was the only Bryant pupil who was not in trouble with the NCAA.

I really enjoyed watching this for several reasons, but I was so impressed with T and his younger life, and his family and how he made something of himself, actually speaking at The White House after the NC. The game-by-game recaps were so cool... remembering each game specifically.
Awesome documentary
Brings back a lot of memories. Lived in Atlanta at the time.
Got married on the same day as Georgia game. Showed up 10 minutes late because I wouldn’t leave until it was done.
Had the limo driver go through buckhead for 2 hours with my TN flags on it. Pulled a Johnny Majors that night with Jack Daniel’s

When the DDT trucks drove by, we played in the "fog" that it was dispersing.

Wait . . . . . . now I know why I feel the way I do at times !

I've taken this argument on before, but the players in 1999 that replaced Peerless Price, Shawn Bryson, Al Wilson, Jermaine Copeland, all had to be better than each of them for the 1999 team to be "more talented". None of them were close to as good. For me, 1998 wins the talent competition.
By that same logic, the 1997 team was more talented. You had all those 1998 guys, plus Manning, Little, Nash, Jonathan Brown, and Terry Fair.

But some of that talent had yet to develop (like Deon Grant, Travis Henry, etc) and Fulmer cost us the Florida game by not starting Jamal.

Some of that 99 talent was on the 98 team but hadn’t developed as well.

Think of all the Bahr ties ... Charley Pell, Sherrill, Danny Ford, Pat Dye were all assistants... all had NCAA troubles. Bahr had NIL going way way before any other school.
And I believe the bahr put football players on swimming schollies as he was the Athletic Director - how crooked is that. It is like little Nick said on college game day a few weeks ago if you are not cheating you are not trying. Bummer the best place to cheat. For those two supposed goats.

I haven't watched this, but it seems like it was a liftime ago. I was so young. I had just recently started my career. I remember I put in a VHS tape to record it. Who knew how the last 27-28 or so years would play out and the roller coaster ride.

Summit had the Lady Vols at dynasty level too with names like Ace, Catchings, Holdsclaw, etc.

A great time to be a Vol fan.

People have "idealistic" memories of certain coaches due to media without realizing that head coach was either A) scumbag cheater (like Sherrill or Bear) or B) a mediocre head coach (like Leach or Beamer)
Not a fan of Bear Bryant, but I will say it's hard to call him a full-blown "cheater". In his time, he took more advantage of a lack of rules, IMO, than he did in breaking rules. Hell, a lot of rules were made because he was always finding loopholes.

I enjoyed watching that , what a great season it was. Especially enjoyed seeing Steve Spurrier tied in knots after the loss. Peerless Price was a special player and the entire defense was NFL level talent. Worth noting Cutcliffe coulda had a NC ring if he'd stayed for 1 more game . Beating Arkansas after their qb tripped on planet earth, just priceless

I came to school in the fall of 1998. The FU game in ‘99 was the first time I was mad after a UT game, lol. If only I could see in the future.
