Not how that works. Look at the Ole MS game with Arkansas this year. Look at Michigan OhSt from last year. Look at Bama FSU.

Plenty of legit contenders will play close games or even lose to lesser teams. Theres a lot of variance in this game.

Besides Vols romp, teams we are rooting for today?
*Bama over Miz to get them out of the mix b/c either way, we're going to need to beat Bama and get the shine off Miz.
*Ole Miss will romp Wash St, so no comments there
*Texas over OK
*Florida over TaM
*Auburn over UGA, but that ain't happening w/ Auburn OL so bad
*SC get back on track and turn over LSU for short field TD's + win.

I will never understand how any Vol ever suggests a pulling for a Bama win. If Bama winning got us into the playoffs, I'm ready for the season to be over. Can you imagine being told to thank Bama. I'm feeling sick just thinking of it.

How about we need Mizzou to lose? This is their best chance bc their schedule is a joke.

Win or lose this game if they stay clean the other games they absolutely can be last years Indiana. Weak schedule but walk in the front door because everyone else around them gets a second loss and committee doesn't have cajones to penalize them for schedule.

That Kansas win is nice but they need two like that to make up for SEC handing them a bowl game just for waking up every fall morning.

Nah, never ever hoping for a Bama win. I hope Missouri punishes them and puts them at another loss and we come in and put the death nail in them. After that Vandy, TAMU and Oklahoma can beat Mizzou and if not they will get whipped in SECC game and might get left out anyways. So no, I'm
Not hoping for a Bama win, I want them firing their coach and walking in the wilderness for years trying to find the 2nd Saban and never being happy as they don’t ever find it.

If anyone goes 11-1 and gets to their conference title game and loses (especially the SEC), I doubt they set that precedent to leave them out . If that happens then every coach will call for immediate reform bc no one will want to play in that extra game.

Ok, I’d rather have Mizzou make the playoffs than Bama, any true UT fan would think the same! So again Buck Fama and Go Mizzou, who is still prob going to lose to TAMU, Okie and heck maybe even Vandy. So I’m not worried about them making playoffs in the least and I want Bama to be 8-4 at best again this year and for the next 50 years!

At this point we control our own destiny.

All we need to do is beat the team lined up in front of us. The rest will take care of itself.

I'd rather the Vols make the playoffs than any other team. And the best chance of that is for us to beat a strong Bama team with a good record. And if we lose to Bama we need them to look like the best team in the country.

That’s very specific category you just threw out. Why not “how many true contenders lose home games to teams that just fired their head coach, rehired their former head coach, and are playing the second week of October in 70 degree weather?”

Also, I didn’t say we will lose. I expect us to win. But it may be close. That Ole MS team they should have beat is a very good team. Arkansas can play
