I was curious if a Quarterback's experience really translated to wins. So, I checked the SEC's big six teams (Tenn, Fla, GA, Ala, Aub and LSU) records since 2000 and the class of their quarterback.

This small study showed that teams with senior quarterbacks did perform better than with less experienced QBs.

year .. (wins-losses) .. winning pct
Freshman (60-28) .681
Sophomore (93-45) .673
Junior (120-57) .677
Senior (104-24) .812

That works out to roughly average seasons of about 8-4 for Freshman, Sophomore and Junior quarterbacks and 10-2 for Senior quarterbacks

Interesting that the Freshmen have a better (slim as it is) winning percentage than Sophomore and Junior QBs.

I like those stats. If we have one loss I would say it is going to be to Arkansas. Call me crazy.

Ainge contributed to that one.

As did Shaeffer..........Sometimes I think we all forget Shaeffer was the starter for the first two games and then bailed us out at SC. Really too bad he got hurt late in that game. We probably wouldn't have had the same type QB controversy as we had in the '05 season...of course, that is only pure speculation.

I would hardly call one long pass play bailing us out. And don't forget that it was EA who was the QB in the second half when we blew the game open.

Because he was so spectacular last year at Ole Miss:).

Nice research. Hopefully that trend will continue.

If we're 9-0 at that point, we won't lose at home to Arkansas. Speaking of which, I just secured my ticket to the Arky game!

If we are undefeated by Kentucky we would probably get overconfident and lose to them. That always seems like the biggest game of the year to them. Hopefully we can go undefeated alltogether.

UK only beats the top teams in the SEC while they are down (UGA '06, LSU '98, Bama '97). SEC teams that are contending for championships don't lose to UK. There are decades of statistics that back that up. IF UT has a down year, losing at UK will be a very real possibility and would be the straw that broke Fulmer's back. But, an 11-0 UT team would run UK off the field.
