Sell the Titans!

There‘s no market for another southern MLB team. The Braves own that space.

I’m not sure about that. I would definitely become more of a baseball fan if Tennessee got a team. I like the game, but I couldn’t care less about the Braves or Cardinals. I doubt I’m the only one.

Pretty much. I know Nashville has tried to float the idea of adding an MLB team, but I don’t see it happening other than appealing to some team with a bad stadium situation (like the A’s).

But yes, the Braves pretty much own the entirety of the southeastern market.

You might not be the only one, but the percentage is quite more of a minority than a majority.

Growing up in Knoxville in the 70’s it was 100% Braves. Thinking back I could probably name Hank Aaron(saw him hit 715 and remember all the commercials leading up to it) but not anyone else. In the meantime the Reds were probably the second most popular team in the area with an unforgettable lineup in 75 of Bench, Rose, Perez, Morgan, Concepcion, Foster, Griffey and Geronimo. Maybe Washington has a following in the area now but I moved while they were still in Montreal.

So not having Henry, AJ and Julio doesn’t affect the team?

Stop with the Julio bull$hit. The dude hasn’t played in 2 yrs. He’s retired but hasn’t told anyone. Henry carries the team.

I never know there are any Braves fans period until they start winning.

Not sure where you live but the Braves are just as popular as the Preds and Titans in Knoxville/East Tennessee.

And you can say that about any team. The amount of Preds gear I see now compared to before their Stanley Cup run is astronomical.

A team would have to want to leave its home market. I’m not sure that’s true of the Rays.

They should. They only draw opponents fans.

They can’t afford to keep any stars. Their stadium is the worst in MLB (tied with Oak)

Manfred wants them to move or get a stadium in the actual city of Tampa Bay. The Tampa stadium continues to look less likely. The question is which city is going to pony up the money to build a new stadium.

Nashville isn’t pulling any fans from the Braves or Cardinals and Nashville, while growing, probably can’t support yet another pro team. So you’re going to try to convince non-baseball fans to suddenly support yet another team on top of college sports, Titans, Preds, and Nashville SC? Not likely. Stick with the Sounds.

Here in West TN it’s all Braves/Cardinals so I’m not doubting the footprint of the Braves. I just also know enough casual baseball fans who don’t give a **** about either to where I fully believe a Nashville team would end up being quite popular.

In fact, I think the Braves’ regional popularity more or less proves how underutilized the southern market is. I’m surprised cities like Charlotte, New Orleans, etc. haven’t been tried in the past.
