I got to thinking about our secondary and why they are so bad to this point. I hadn't realized -- or crystalized -- just how much they have had to deal with.

Here were the top DBs that were projected to be playing this year prior to atrition through "rules" or injuries:

Hefney FS
Morley SS - OUT
I Johnson CB - OUT
Fellows CB - OUT
Gaines CB/Extra - OUT
M Johnson CB/Extra

Everyone loses people from time to time, but that is severe. That's partly responsbile for some of the problems our secondary is having.

He's not doing horrible but he was a preseason AA and he is deffiniatly not playing up to that.

Hefney is not what I would consider a problem right now. Certainly not playing his best; but it's the other guys that look lost a lot.

I think Hefney blew it against the UF TE Ingram for a TD. He's had a few more mistakes, too. He also can't tackle anymore, which is bad, because he's often the last man between the guy with the ball and wide open spaces. He's definitely not making the other players around him look better the way Jason Allen did.
