Has Tennessee at #5. Author penalized us for the smokey gray. What say you volnation?

Ranking the SEC's best and worst football uniforms - CBSSports.com

"Tennessee, if you only knew how much higher on these rankings you could be if you stopped wearing gray alternates and other crimes against humanity as often as you do. Do you not realize that your traditional look is exquisite? There are not many uniforms in this country that I enjoy seeing on a football field more than your white helmets with the orange jersey and the white pants. I know it's just orange, but for some reason, when I see you wearing it, it feels like a unique orange. An orange known only to the Volunteers. It's beautiful, and you should take advantage of it. Plus, it makes me think of having creamsicles as a kid, and oh man, creamsicles were awesome."

If you read that using the voice of Richard Simmons, it makes you realize why dudes sound ludicrous discussing uniforms.

This guy is ranking uniforms? Seems legit. He should be ranking horse and buggy rides and milk churning in Ohio :)

I never really realized just how much red/maroon and white jersey combos in the SEC there are until I read this. It's kind of ridiculous honestly.

As far as this article goes, it's dumb that he knocks us for a jersey we usually wear once a year and it has only become a trend the past 3 years. Heck, one of the Butch seasons we didn't wear the Smokey Grey at all if I recall correctly. To me, Georgia has some just generic ass uniforms and I don't get the love. It's just red and white, grey pants, with some black trim......cool? It seems like half the teams in college football use red/maroon white combos. It's just not original.

It should be LSU, Florida, and TENN in the top 3 and then a large gap till the next group. They are the only truly original uniforms out there.

Ludicrous? You do realize that uniform threads go for miles around here, right?

I approve. :)

(Although taking UF off the table for obvious bias my favorite uni is LSU by a long shot.)

Whether you like a uniform our not is a completely subjective matter of taste. Ranking them is pretty pointless. I think Penn State's uniforms are terribly dull, for instance. But lots of people think they're the best in college football. Their is no accounting for taste.

1. Florida: There are a lot of SEC uniforms that I like a lot, but none more so than Florida. The Gators haven't really changed their look since the 1980s, and for good reason. They look good. As I've said, I like the way orange and blue work together, and they work very well for you. You lose me a bit when you go with the all-orange look, but it's a transgression I can forgive based on everything else you wear. I also love the script Gators across your helmets, and I've always been a fan of the Gator logo. It's just a very good look, and you should be proud of yourselves.

I've yet to meet a Penn St fan that likes their uniforms, the most I mean. All of them say they're way past due for an update.

Florida's are near the worst, IMO. I like ours and Bama's.

While I think ranking uniforms is a complete waste of time (because it is a matter of taste), I do think the author is right on one account. Tennessee is know for that shade of Orange. No one else in college sports has an instant recognition factor as we do.

Think about it, If I say "Smurf Blue" turf who do you instantly think of? Yes, exactly, Boise State. Tennessee is no different, people see that orange and white and know instantly who it is.

Some of the traditionalists like to hold them up as an example. There's nothing wrong with them. There just isn't anything great about them either.

My favorite are Tennessee of course, but my favorite from another team is LSU in their purple jerseys and white helmets.

I don't know why LSU insists on wearing their road white jerseys at home. I think their purple jerseys are ass kicking, much better looking than they white ones.

1.UT
2.LSU
3.Auburn
4.Bama
5.USCe
6.Ark
7.UF
Don't like any of the rest, but I like UK when they used to wear the white helmets w/ the K and the simple blue over white unis. Also used to like Ole Miss with the red over gray unis with dark blue trim and the helmets w/ Col. Reb. Don't like either theur unis. UK trying to mix blue and black unis are awful, especially w/ the chrome helmets. And OM just has too much going on at once.

Edit. Forgot UGA. Squeeze them in at #5 in front of USC.

I would rather see us in our home Orange that the new greys myself. IMO though, I think the Adidas grey looks better than the Nike grey.
