SEC to discuss postseason for football (USA Today)

interesting post i found in the comments. hard to follow but he has an idea...

You do not need a 17 game season. Play conference games at start of season and then play interconference games, number 1 in Big 10 versus number 1 in Mac, number 1 in Pac 10 versus number 1 in in WAC, number 1 in Big East against number 1 in Sun Belt, number 1 in Big 12 versus number 1 in SEC, number 1 in ACC versus number 1 in Confernce USA, top independents play each other.
Similarly the 2nd place teams could play each other, 3rd place teams, ... which would create great interconference (interregion) rivalries.
Week 10 (after Conference championship games or 9 week conference games)
Big 10 versu Mac Game 1
Pac 10 versus WAC Game 2
Big EAST versus Sun Belt Game 3
Big 12 versus top indenpendent Game 4
ACC versus Conference USA Game 5
SEC versus top independent Game 6
Week 10
Winner of game 1 versus loser of game 2 Game 7
Winner of game 3 versus loser of game 4 Game 8
Winner of game 5 versus loser of game 6 Game 9
Loser of game 1 versus winner of game 2 Game 10
Loser of game 3 versus winner of game 4 Game 11
Loser of game 5 versus winner of game 6 Game 12
Week 11
Winner of game 7 versus winner of game 12 Game 13
Winner of game 8 versus winner of game 11 Game 14
Winner of game 9 versus winner of game 10 Game 15
Loser of game 7 versus loser of game 10 Game 16
Loser of game 8 versus loser of game 11 Game 17
Loser of game 9 versus loser of game 12 Game 18
Week 12
Winner of game 13 versus winner of game 14 Game 19
Winner of game 15 versus winner of game 16 Game 20
Winner of game 17 versus winner of game 18 Game 21
Loser of game 13 versus loser of game 14 Game 22
Loser of game 15 versus loser of game 16 Game 23
Loser of game 17 versus loser of game 18 Game 24
Week 13
Winner of game 19 versus winner of game 20 Game 25
Winner of game 21 versus winner of game 22 Game 26
Winner of game 23 versus winner of game 24 Game 27
Loser of game 19 versus loser of game 20 Game 28
Loser of game 21 versu oser of game 22 Game 29
Loser of game 23 versus loser of game 24 Game 30

Similarly sent up 4 weeks of games between the 2nd place teams, 3rd place teams, ...

It would make for an awesome 13 week college football season, with all major conferences playing each other the last 4 weeks of the season. 2 home game and 2 road games. Then have your bowls and final game, with the teams left standing. Not forr preseason patsies like many of the so called BCS conference teams now. Strength of schedule should be based on nonconference schedule. Check out Troy's and Florida Atlantic's nonconference schedules, 3 road games against bowl teams from BCS conferences and one 1 team from BCS conference at home!! It would be nice to see top BCS teams play nonconference schedules like Troy and Florida Atlantic. UMiami of Florida and Louisville played such nonconference schedules and look where they are now!! So there has been a changing of the guard in college football. These teams were invited to the ACC and Big East. Troy and Florida Atlantic are probably the next two teams to be pinched by bigger conferences after they start consistently winning like UMiami of Florida and Louisville did.

by the way, this is not my idea, i'm reading over it as well trying to figure out what he's saying. i'm just fowarding the blueprint.

Something about that doesn't add up.

I believe this is his point:

In the example in post #3, the #1 of the Big 10 plays the #1 of the MAC, the #1 of the Pac 10 plays the #1 of the WAC, WHILE:

The #1 of the Big 12 plays the #1 of the SEC

well don't go making his point for him.......it was much easier when we had no idea what the hell he was saying.

Why does the Pac and Big 10 have to play the weak teams while you play Big 12 champ? That makes no sense and isn't fair to you guys.

Yeah, I know. I am just saying that wouldn't be fair to you guys. We would role over Wac and Mac teams. So would the Big 10. You guys are the only ones to play the other BCS conference in that scenario. While the Pac and Big 10 play non-BCS schools? Yeah, USC against the #1 Wac team, laughable.

having predetermined conferences play eachother is rather silly. conference strength is cyclical.
